TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

Yes, it was axed by CBS. I live in Honolulu and I’m used to seeing production being done around Oahu. But at least the people working on the set will still have work now that “NCIS: Hawaii” is returning for a second season.
They never did a crossover.

I really liked these characters. However, I suppose there is a way to watch Tom Selleck, because I only saw a few of his episodes.

They didn’t have to do a crossover for some crew members to potentially pick up some work.

That all aside, Magnum and H50 exist in the same “universe,” as does H50 and the NCIS franchise. Although two H50 cast members have had guest shots as different characters on NCISH.

there's seems to be a huge purge going on at The CW, another sign that Paramount Global (which inherited the CBS half of ownership of the network (via the WB/UPN Merger) after the CBS/Viacom merger to become ViacomCBS/Paramount Global) and Warner Brothers Discovery (which inherited the WB half of the ownership of the CW (again a part of the merger of UPN & The WB) from it's 2 predecessors Time Warner and WarnerMedia after AT&T merged into Time Warner and now WBD is pretty much a spin off of AT&T) is ready to sell the network off or shut it down if they don't get a buyer, and Nexstar was rumored to want it, i wouldn't be surprised if The CW will pull a MyNetworkTV and become from a network making new shows to a repeats all the time syndication network in the likes of Ion, MeTV, and other Diginet TV networks.

And that's why they should have crossed over.

Not really, no. It was more a lighthearted observation about the long-ago crossover. No one is really bound by that. Besides, H50 and Magnum shouldn't co-exist, since Magnum PI was referenced as a TV series in an early episode of H50.

There are no actual rules of course.

The CW had a real bloodbath didn’t they?

Queens, Promised Land, Dynasty and Our Kind of People all cancelled. This season has not been good for primetime soaps.

Magnum was owned by Universal. H50 and NCIS are CBS. Maybe a move to Peacock or Netflix for a final season?

Little to no chance of that. The shows that do are by far an exception, and there tends to be a more…let’s say fanatical following. Magnum was a perfectly serviceable entrant on CBS’s Friday night lineup, but is not really in that category. Most shows that end just end, no second life on a streaming platform. Netflix has been cutting back originals, and Peacock has their own lineup with a not-unlimited budget.

Yeah, about the one show I can name that moved from network TV to streaming would be Evil, who’s 3rd season is set to premiere next month. It got lousy ratings on CBS but was able to get a loyal cult following for the show.

There’s a glut of streaming scripted originals at the moment, and with binge watching appointment TV is pretty much dead. Not to mention I’m seeing a number of these shows have a short shelf life only lasting 2-3 seasons.

My wife and I enjoyed both seasons of Evil but season one on CBS was definitely the better of the two. The second season on Paramount+ veered off into some really bizarre storylines, so hoping they can steer back on track for season three.

Hello! Question that I am not sure if you can answer, but is it expensive to film a television series (or movie) in Hawaii? I haven't visited, but the conventional wisdom is that everything's more expensive there. Also I was a huge fan of Lost and remember how the cast seemed to be getting a lot of traffic tickets. Thanks & have a good day,

I remember a film professor in college telling me this was one of the reasons why Waterworld flopped. I would think becuase you have to get things shipped there from the mainland.
