That one. Marginal songs, or songs that are being rested 6 AM to Midnight. The way that can be done is to have the songs timed to go to an overnight only category every certain number of days, and then return for a few daytime plays.Curious as to how the logic goes into determining what's suitable for "overnights only."
Is it traditionally songs that test on the lower end of the scale...
Probably not in most cases.or songs that test very well but don't quite match the "feel" of the station during the day?

There recently was a long, depressing ballad that stations were hesitant to add in morning drive. Nothing ruins the mood than a long, depressing ballad. So, some stations thought about sticking it in overnights. Until the research came in, and it turned out people liked long depressing ballads. It ended up being #1.
Keep in mind the labels can see where stations play songs. If the song is banished to overnight, the rep will ask why.
Maybe Adele's "Easy on Me"? It's a depressing ballad that recently was a #1 hit, although at 3:44 I wouldn't call it that long.Don't leave us hanging...what was the song?
It's long by CHR standards. Another possibility: Olivia Rodrigo's "driver's license," which clocks in at 4:02. Although I wouldn't put it past David to pull an old trick of his again: The long, sad ballad he's teasing us with will turn out to be five minutes of misery, sung entirely in Spanish, that's No. 1 on some pop chart in one or more countries in the Spanish-speaking world.Maybe Adele's "Easy on Me"?
