WBT loses the Panthers again

Gee, it's almost as if this station has made nothing but bad decisions in the last 2 years.

Looks like iHeart would put the Panthers on 96.1 since it is their strongest signal. 99.7 is more limited and has a null to the west. And although 96.1 has a null to the east, it is overall a larger coverage area. Perhaps the Panthers wanted a stronger FM signal than what WBT could provide on 99.3, and Radio One did not feel 107.9 would be the right fit.
Sports on a CHR is, as Charles Barkley would say, turrible.
WRFX ought to have a null to the north and east too. WMAG is way too close to be .2 away.
Yea not really a fit for the format, but I was just thinking in terms of the signal coverage area. But I'm sure they have affiliates in Greensboro and Greenville-Spartanburg to fill in the gaps.
The release clearly says it's moving to 99.7.

You really overthink things. And not for the better.
Classic rock is the only male-dominated music format. Sports are also obviously male-dominated. The Panthers fit the demographics of the station. WRFX is also a full market FM signal and is usually the top ranked station with adult males. It’s an upgrade. That’s why they switched.
To be honest, iHeart made the Panthers a deal that's hard to turn down. In addition to broadcasting the game over the air, they also provide streaming, podcasting, and other web content. iHeart's digital team creates the content for the team, and the team gets access to it on their site and socials as well. How do I know this? iHeart has been offering this same multi-platform package to other teams in several sports around the country for the past five years.

99.7 is the best format fit, but 96.1 has an overall larger coverage area, especially in Spartanburg. But I know the Panthers have a Greenville-Spartanburg affiliate, so I guess that really doesn't matter.
I’ve never had a problem picking up WRFX anywhere in the Charlotte market. Neighboring markets have their own affiliates. WHQC skews heavily female.
What about alternative? And just this morning I saw alternative WEND is WAAAAAAY up.
