Pirate station with the best coverage?

What's the farthest reaching non-licensed radio station you've heard of or you know about? Any specific details like power level or height?

For me, there was one in San Antonio at one point within the last 10 years. I noticed it several times on different channels playing classic rock and some newer stuff from the mid 2000s. No ID but I heard it over 10 miles away from the location where it was strongest. I barely received it but I'm sure it was them because they played the same songs and had the same audio processing. It was on the NW side but not sure if it's still there.


You can be as vague as you want, as I technically just snichd on a pirate. San Antonio is a big city though and I know it takes an engineer or FCC worker to track one down. Heck, the one I mentioned may have stopped broadcasting and sold the equipment
 
East Tennessee: We had a pirate on 87.9 in Cosby, TN, which carried the Alex Jones network, and I could get it in Knoxville.
 
Back in 1998 to 2004 there use to a pirate station that played rap album versions in Houston TX on the Soutwest side at night the station had 23 had 25 mile range no joke.

Have you ever heard of a Pirate Station called RPM Network that played harder rock and metal from 2001 to late 2005 from the North East side of San Antonio. I use to talk to the guy that ran this station on the internet many time I have not heard anything from him since the station stopped broadcasting.

In West TN there was a similar pirate station on and off at 92.7 in the early 2000's. It's off now, but unfortunately Alex Jones is still on WMQM 1600, the dollar a holler station in Memphis. (n)
 
I don't know if this is technically a pirate station, but North Dallas has "Oldies Radio" on 1650 kHz. I can pick it up as far west as Lewisville. Programming is reminiscent of the heyday of 1960's AM radio.

Weren't they on 97.7? I read about it before but never heard it. Maybe the old 97-7 Rock KLTO took a page out of their book.


And one more pirate station, last year from November to the 1st of January off and on there was a 91.3 here in Kansas City. It played a few Christmas songs on repeat, like these.
Range was a mile or two at least and it seemed to be somewhere in the middle of town, but I haven't heard it since.
 
There used to be an Orthodox Jewish pirate (yes, really!) on 1710 AM in NYC that had quite a wide coverage area, because no one else was using the frequency.
 
Boston had a pirate on 87.7 that went 50 miles in some directions. It had its antenna on a hill and 5000 watts
 
There was a pirate on 92.9 in New Milford, CT back in the late 1990s that had at least a 15-mile range: "WXRQ" playing Japanese anime music. Had to be running at least 100 watts from a hilltop to have that kind of range. I recorded an aircheck of it here:
