Does anyone know what happened to Jim Bohanon?

I heard him recently doing a feature on "America in the Morning" which he used to host, in addition to his late night show. But that feature could have been prerecorded from some time ago.

Bohannon is 78, so maybe he's taking some time off but plans to return? He was originally Larry King's newscaster when King was an overnight syndicated radio host. He got King's gig when King was on CNN each evening and moved to an afternoon radio show to lighten his schedule.

Bohannon's schedule was kinda crazy in those days. When his show moved to 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., he kept America in The Morning as well. So four nights a week, he'd be on the air starting at 10 p.m. and not finish until 6 a.m. Weekends were nutty. He'd come in early Monday morning just to do America in The Morning. Then the long schedule from Monday night to Thursday night. Then on Friday, he'd just do 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. since there's no America in The Morning on Saturday. That was a long six-day schedule!

Jim was not Larry King's newscaster. He filled in for King and did "America in the Morning" plus " America this Week", a 30 min wrap-up of the week's news. Like a lot of us in the biz, radio was a major part of Jim's life. He was almost always in the buidling and would occasionally catch a quick nap on the couch in the Larry King studio. I have often said that, if radio had not been invented, Jim would have gone door-to-door to deliver his program. Jim is also a prince of a guy. One of the nicest, smartest people I have every worked with.

Didn't Bohannon do the overnight show on King's nights off? There wasn't a newscaster on King's show, Mutual affiliates used the hourly Mutual News, stations with other networks used their networks.

Yes; he hasn't posted anything on Twitter in over a month. Also, I haven't listened to a lot of his show lately, but have any of the guest hosts mentioned why he's out? To me they would've, and if they haven't, that makes me wonder if he's having some health problems he'd rather keep private.

Jim's fill-in hosts have made no mention of why he's out.

Just bumping this as its been another month with no word on what happened to this guy. A national radio host just disappears and no one says a word? Very strange.

From TheLocalReport.com: "He likewise introduced America in the Morning, a broadly partnered radio news show, for a considerable length of time prior to resigning in December 2015. He has been all around the Internet as he is supposed to have some medical problems."
He was honored at the NAB just this past year:
Fast forward to 6:40 for the presentation. The guy from Westwood One who accepted the award seemed to insinuate that Jim's been suffering some health issues.

Rich Valdes who's filling in, and doing an excellent job BTW, played a clip from Jim saying that he is having health issues but will return "soon."
