107.9 Sacramento

Same old story same old song and dance!!! Nothing new in the radio universe. Cannibalism in Sacramento radio style. Thank God for internet streaming and by the way long live the eagle 96.9!!!! Hope they don't get sued by Audacy's KSFM.....Just not on my radio presets any longer. But 107.9 continues on the tradition of being a classic hits music channel, just a new era of music. Good luck with the diluted ratings for a lot of stations in Sacramento.

Been listening since noon but that rap song sampling Every Breath You Take (itself being a song I’ve always hated, besides being a longtime fan of The Police) is making me tune out.

For the demos they are targeting. Sacramento is a lot more diverse than it was.
It's another generic say-nothing empty promise from radio. Their top of the hour legal ID even lies by saying they have people who live and work in Sacramento like Strawberry and Lizette. Aren't they up in Seattle? Blatant lying on day #1. And radio wonders why they cannot get younger generations to use radio. It offers a lot of hype and bullshit which younger generations are not fooled by.

The launch intro mentioned "local Sacramento people" would be heard on air. Where are they??! Possibly only Strawberry and Lizette, if they've moved to Sacramento.

To me it sounds like "The End" formally on 107.9 went to 106.5 and "The Buzz" formally on 106.5 went to 107.9
In a way, yes, given that the Buzz was an all-90s station and then a Rhythmic AC. KISS may be a tribute to the End of old (1998-2017), if anything.

I'll Be Missing You was a #1 hit worldwide, so it is natural that the new KISS is playing that song.
If THAT was a #1 hit worldwide, that just shows how sad music has become. But I shouldn’t be surprised. (Sampling shouldn’t even be considered “music”, and the original song was also #1 in 1983 and I hated it then too. The Police did SO many better songs than that which deserved to be #1.)

Looks like the 2010s presence on KISS is not a fluke indeed. Not as heavy on songs from the TRL era (especially the iteration hosted by Carson Daly) as one would expect.

Though why is it classified as a Hot AC on Wikipedia? Only one current being played so far (Ed Sheeran's Shivers).

Your opinion. That song was actually part of the soundtrack of my life and generation, and is one of hip hop/pop’s defining staples (not to mention was a tribute to an artist that gave hip hop a much bigger, more worldwide audience). Sampling, if done right, actually works very well; I can think of a few original works that maybe weren’t that popular when released that were given attention/exposure if sampled on a new song.

Wikipedia isn't the best source if you want accuracy. Maybe this format is in need of an official name, Rhythmic Gold, or how about Rhythmic Hot AC.
