107.9 Sacramento

It's a shame though to see so many out of town voice trackers. But as many people have said on this thread it's the typical iHeart way.

The iHeart Sacramento music stations remain entirely gold-based, save for the 107.1 translator broadcasting The Bull.

Wonder how the new KISS 107.9 will avoid overlapping V101, given that more rhythmic tracks have stood the test of time compared to more pop/rock ones, like say Nickelback.

Also one can give some comparisons of KISS to play 107.1 out of Edmonton, which has a 90s/2000s-centric Classic Hits format (with a drop of 80s and 2010s). Granted, play is a Canadian station, but note that there are barely, if any, Nickelback on their playlist! I would like to add that it's cool that play is using the Z100 2000 ReelWorld package for their imaging.

Well, unless you're running radio stations in NYC, LA, or SF, in which most personalities are indeed local. iHeart may not be as inclined to spend a lot of money in Sacramento unless it's for KFBK.

iHeart press release posted on the station website (stating pretty much what was heard during the launch):

They left out the lineup (taken from RadioInsight's version of the press release):

"Plus, the station will have commercial free weekends and a weekday air talent line-up:"

Chino 6-10 a.m.
Wendy Wild 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Strawberry & Lizette 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Frankie V 7 p.m. – Midnight

Wait, not even 40 minutes into the launch, and they have played 2 songs from the 2010s (California Gurls, Cheap Thrills). I know it's the beginning but....

Some would interpret "2000s" as being the entire millennium so far rather than just 2000-2009 (or 2001-2010 for all those "there was no year 0" nitpickers).

True, though I would expect songs from the 2010s to be sprinkled in over time rather than be played right out of the gate. Then again, the newly launched station considers Katy Perry, fun., and The Weeknd as core artists. Oddly enough, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake are not mentioned on the press release despite the latter artists having strong presence on MTV back in the day.

And with the loose interpretation of the 2000s, songs from 2022 could be played on the station.

Well, one of their promos/sweepers mentions "best variety of the 90s, 2000s and today" - usually associated with AC content.
This format is "hotter", of course. "Throwbacks" in a CHR/Hot AC mold.

This is a unique launch in that a (virtually) new frequency is being established.
iHeart has to make people aware that there is actually a station at 107.9 in addition to the musical presentation.
This will continue for a while, likely until hosted shows start.
I hope the rating be Good, I got 107.9 on my Preset
