WDRV/Chicago Midday Host Bob Stroud to Semi-Retire

https://news.****************/articles/c41562/WDRV-Chicago-Midday-Host-Bob-Stroud-to-Semi-Retire

Hubbard Radio's Classic Rock WDRV (97.1 FM The Drive)/Chicago midday host Bob Stroud will relinquish his full-time duties at the end of this month, beginning semi-retirement. He'll continue to be heard on The Drive weekdays, hosting daily features: "Ten at 10" and "One 45 at 1:45." Stroud will also continue to host his Sunday morning Rock 'n Roll Roots program, something he has done for 42 years, the last 21 of those on WDRV.

Bonafide Chicago Legend. Glad to see that he'll stick around for his signature program. Wishing him nothing but the best. He deserves nothing less.

I remember Stroud doing his Rock and Roll Roots show on WMET 95.5 circa 1980. Enjoy your free time, Bob!

Well if so then I stand to be corrected. I know I first heard the show on WLUP in the early 80s.
Even if it turns out that I'm right, I'm pretty sure that "The Stroud Crowd" had a longer run on WLUP than anyplace other than WDRV. :)

Anybody remember what year the show moved to WMVP?
Might have been 1994. Rock 'n Roll Roots on WMVP was more detail focused on the history of the featured artist of the week as well a playing more deep tracks from the artist. I thought it was the best run for the program up until Disney purchased WMVP around 1999 or so. Bob Stroud moved to CD 94.7 for a few years before moving to WDRV as a new start-up after the WNIB sale.
