Overnight Anchors at KNX

For the last couple of years, overnights at KNX have been mostly covered by Mark Austin Thomas, with some Bob Brill and Maggie McKay.

I don't listen much to that block, but Art Sanders has joined KNX after 22 years at KOMO/KWNW in Seattle where he anchored the 7PM-midnight block for almost his entire time there.

Art indicates on facebook that this is a "too good to pass up role" so I'm assuming he's doing overnights full time.

Does this mean Mark Austin Thomas has hung up the headphones?

Maggie McKay did her usual Tuesday morning shift, so she's still working a bit.

Art had Sunday morning (Bob Brill anchored) and Tuesday morning off, which seems like a weird pattern. I'm sure they'll get the shifts dialed in a little better once he's been here for a while.

May I just add how cool it is that 24/7 radio news still exists?

I was driving through central Wyoming in the middle of the night. No T-mobile coverage on I-80. It's dark. Boring. Lonely. And I tuned into 1070 and heard news and traffic babbling on about how busy L.A.X. was, even though it was one o'clock in the morning.

Those late-night anchors may not generate a ton of cash, but boy are they meaningful to us who are up late.
