Radio Ink Article On Delliah

Earlier this week, Radio Ink published an interview with Delliah.

Now, I know that you "inside radio" folks have bad blood about her, because she stood her ground, about WVBF not having a alcohol commercials during her shift..

Because the station was in the toilet at the time, the management there said "Sure, no problem!" Then because Delliah was not only authentic,, but had compassion for her audience, it vastly became one of the highest rated shows in Boston.

Inspite of that fact, management reneged on their promise not to air alcohol commercials during her show, saying in effect "Your show is too popular now, we need to air these commercials!" Delliah stood her ground, and according to the article, she says that she was fired!

So, you inside radio folks just don't "get it!" She very much connected with her audience, and I have personally met people who have told me unsolicitedly, that they used to listen to her show..

25 years later, into the, she is doing very well in syndication instead!

her personal life and her business life are well documented, failed relationships and bad business decisions

As for WSSH they brought her in to do nights, displacing a friend of mine in the process (they got moved to 10 to 2 IIRC)

When word got out they were considering her, I called the PD at the time and asked him if he was out of his mind,

She may have left WVBF under the guise of the alcohol/strip club ads being offensive to her, but she had a established record of breaking contracts long before Fairbanks hired her, and that continued long after she left Boston for the first time.

OK, I ask for a source in on your claims. I have never seen one negative article about her at all. So, unless you provide back-up, then I am going to take your comment with both a grain of salt, and having a vendetta against her, for WSSH changing your friends time shift.

And BTW, is there any indication that she had broken her contract with anyone within the past 25 years?

Wow, some serious personal axe grinding going on. People have failed relationships. It’s often a mutual failure just as a successful relationship requires all parties to thrive. Sometimes the same applies in business. It is after all another form of human relationship.

Perhaps moving on from the bitterness is helpful.

We are in the entertainment business, and that field is know for being a bit hard on relationships as well as full of "the other partner" who is not understanding and fair.

Maybe they thought that she was better and that her show would enhance the whole station.

And then he did nothing about your comment.

This business is hard on people on their way up. Let's not blame her alone for what we know may have been someone else's fault.

With the impending retirement of evening personality David Allen Boucher, Delilah's syndicated show could be coming to WMJX-106.7 here in Boston.

We'll, Oh yeah, an Audacy station, uh...

Sort of hard to predict. Delilah is an iHeart show. But Audacy went out of their way to put her on their AC station in Seattle. Audacy is also running iHeart's Elliott In The Morning on several of their alternative stations. So they may bring Delilah to Boston. Or they could just VT the daypart as they do in other markets. In Philadelphia, they dropped Delilah and hired someone local for the shift.

It isvery interesting that they dropped her in Philly! Wasn't that where she was headed to when leaving Boston?

As far as Seattle, isn't that near her home region too?

She seems to come and go at B101. Right now, she's not there and the shift is hosted locally by Laura Bass. I think Delilah was on iHeart's The Breeze up until it's recent demise.

As for Seattle, yes that's her home market, and she does a custom afternoon show for them, as well as the syndicated show in overnights.
