Earlier this week, Radio Ink published an interview with Delliah.
Now, I know that you "inside radio" folks have bad blood about her, because she stood her ground, about WVBF not having a alcohol commercials during her shift..
Because the station was in the toilet at the time, the management there said "Sure, no problem!" Then because Delliah was not only authentic,, but had compassion for her audience, it vastly became one of the highest rated shows in Boston.
Inspite of that fact, management reneged on their promise not to air alcohol commercials during her show, saying in effect "Your show is too popular now, we need to air these commercials!" Delliah stood her ground, and according to the article, she says that she was fired!
So, you inside radio folks just don't "get it!" She very much connected with her audience, and I have personally met people who have told me unsolicitedly, that they used to listen to her show..
25 years later, into the, she is doing very well in syndication instead!
