FM Frequency of the Week: 94.7

Hartland, VT:
W234BN Claremont, NH, translator for classic country WCNL (1010) Newport, NH. An unusual approach to classic country that includes traditional-sounding currents/recurrents and even pop oldies by CCR, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills & Nash, etc., that weren't country crossovers in their day but would have fit the format as it opened up later on.
Meriden, CT (former location):
WMAS, Springfield, MA, with adult contemporary music.

In the near north Chicago suburbs it's all Classic Hits WLS-FM
Zip on 94.7 here. Not even splash from 94.9 or 94.5.
Ashland PA, four miles west of me, supposedly has a 10-watt WEVW translator on 94.7. Which I don't altogether believe. I've driven through Ashland several times since reading about this translator. I'm even certain I know where the tower is.
I'm no FM DXer of worth. The reason I follow this frequency is because I get a chuckle about Newark NJ's WXBK and their northeast NJ signal more East, trying to get more into NYC. In the way is/was WMAS-FM in Springfield MA. I used to work there as a kid back when they were WHVY, an AoR format.
Springfield reportedly has adjusted their pattern already to give some elbow room to NYC's WXBK.
Some people at Audacy must have their shoelaces tied togther that's causing all the delay with WXBK. Audacy owns BOTH WMAS-FM and WXBK!

It's a translator that's about 12 miles away from me, but is quite strong throughout town. K234AH rebroadcasts 1630 KVAM, so religious programming. A good decade ago, it was the FM home of 1480 KRAE, an oldies station, which now resides on 101.1.
There have been a few times that I was able to recieve KRKS Denver on 94.7 due to my local being off the air, or extremely powerful Tropo. I have yet to see E-skip overtake the translator. WLS Chicago is definitely a bucket list item for me.
Rapid City also has a religious translator on 94.7, which was of okay strength when I visited.

It’s KAMX (Mix 94.7) Luling/Austin in Canyon Lake. They ran a good Modern AC format in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. They have since segued to Hot AC. I have not heard anything on 94.7 since Mix has had their tower in both Mountain City (the old 103.5 tower) and now at the Austin antenna farm.
In the early 80’s (long before 94.7 Luling signed on), I heard KMET from Los Angeles during an E Skip opening. For someone who grew up on late 70’s and early 80’s AOR, that was pretty special.

Los Angeles it's 94.7 FM KTWV when I was there.
I've gotten WLS covering up WFBQ several times when I lived in Lafayette.
East Tennessee: W234CU (tied to WIFA-1240 which relays JoyFM, 92.7. Before the translator signed on, it was often WGSQ, Cookeville TN.
Warminster PA(Philly 'burbs):
Usually splatter from local 94.5 WPST from Trenton NJ. In tropo occasions,
there's WXBK Newark NJ and WDSD Dover DE.

Here in Pickerington, Ohio, it's all local adult contemporary WSNY "Sunny 95" all the time.
From travels elsewhere, WFBQ is a blaster. I've heard it as far from Indianapolis as Celina, Ohio. To me, they'll always a be a favorite as Bob & Tom's flagship.
I'll be traveling between here and Chicago over the next week, so if I remember I'll have to hear that WFBQ-WLS battle for myself.

Ah yes... but for those of us lived through the 1970s and 80s, 94.7 will forever be KMET !
Parkersburg, WV-1050 WLYQ and 94.7, airing “Willie 94.7.” By the way, the AM either already has, or will eventually drop down to 1,000 watts.

Strong to fair reception of the current incarnation of KSKU, now licensed to Sterling.
North Iowa:
Weak reception of K234BK/Britt, which relays KJLY/Blue Earth’s Christian programming (‘Kinship Radio’). There is a Catholic LPFM, KQOP-LP, in Charles City, though it’s not receivable at my location.
