WYCC Channel 20, 1983-2022

WTTW turned in the license for Channel 20 on June 1, and the FCC cancelled the license the next day. Not many details as to why, and not even a mention on Robert Feder's page. It had been a station in name only since 2017, when the City Colleges of Chicago sold its RF channel 25 spectrum and it eventually was merged into WTTW.

On 06/02/2022 they filed to cancel their license but on 06/13/2022 WYCC filed a renewal application.
The license and the call letters have been deleted as of 6/2. It is now shown in CDBS as DWYCC. There's nothing to renew now.

Selling the spectrum for a paltry $16 million started the decline. However, they keep the license which entitles them to cable and satellite must-carry throughout the Chicago DMA. Not sure why they would turn in the license and give all that up. A license for must-carry is still quite valuable.
