Well let's see: The lost the NCAA and NBC Sports contracts, so it seems like they've been going backwards for a while.

I can confirm that Westwood One aired the NCAA tournament this year (March/April 2022), months after the date of Kelly's news item. So apparently they got back together.

The NBC Sports deal ended because NBC Spoorts Group ceased production. So while it was a loss for WW1, it's not like they lost that programming to a competitor.

I'll point out this item from Radio-Online, which contains three people who were presumably let go from WW1. Radio Industry News, Radio Show Prep, Radio Promotions, Radio Station Data, Podcast News

It appears that Whitney Allen's show "Big Time with Whitney Allen" is among the cuts, ironically on the same day that she goes into the Country Radio Hall o Fame. The syndicated evening country program has been removed from WW1's web site. This link is now dead: https://westwoodone.com/programs/music-entertainment/daily-shows/the-big-time-w-whitney-allen

Apologies, it looks like they moved the show page, so this may be a false alarm: https://westwoodone.com/programs/music-entertainment/daily-shows/the-big-time-with-whitney-allen/

"Affiliates of the daily First Light with Michael Toscano...have been informed that Westwood One will cease distributing the [show] at the end of July. Affiliates of First Light are being offered America in the Morning as a replacement."

Some "First Light" affiliates also air "America in the Morning." I'm thinking they'll move up "America in the Morning" to the time slot currently occupied by "First Light." I'm curious what will fill the old "America in the Morning" time slot at some of these stations?

First Light and Country Countdown USA are the only two long form shows that appear to be affected. And Country Countdown USA is already shopping for a new syndicator and has no plans to end production.

Jack Silver has been named as one of the people that have been part of the Westwood One Layoffs.
Looks like he was director of NBC Sports Radio (which I miss hearing sometimes, it was pretty cool), and Operations Manager.... they always want to get rid of Operations people. Oh well.
