Article about Tom LaMoreaux, host of oldies show on WBWC

I wish WBWC could tweak their coverage area a bit. Their signal pretty much disappears east of Broadview Rd. Yeah, I know there is another station in Painesville on the same frequency, but maybe they can do something to at least cover a little more of the Cleveland area - they are missing a good chunk of it currently.

The station in Painesville signed on in 2008 or 2009. Years, prior to that, the owners of WBWC applied for a power increase that would allow the station to cover the City of Cleveland well. However, the FCC was interested in finding room for more stations and owners. In the final analysis, WBWC got a power increase, but directional-west which gave the other owner space and time to obtain their FCC license. That's at least how I remember it.

Thanks, John. I was listening to you in the car last Sunday, but the station was fading out. I think you said you will be playing some non-rock stuff this Sunday, is that correct?

There will be a special edition of "The Golden Age of Rock and Roll" entitled "The Golden Age...Without Rock and Roll". We'll focus on the Adult Contemporary or Adult Pop music of the 1950s and very early 1960s. Some of the artists to be played include Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Yvonne DeCarlo (aka Lilly Munster) and Percy Faith and His Orchestra. If we get positive response, we may do it again sometime. As it is, after the announcement, we got 3 requests for specific tunes to be played. The two-hour show will begin at 6pm on Sunday evening, July 10th on WBWC 88.3 FM, on-line @ wbwc.com and available on the Tune-In app.

Sounds good. Maybe some Pat Boone? "Speedy Gonzales' is a fun one, if that fits. Or else "Love Letters in the Sand".

WZIP being at first-adjacent 88.1 can't help much, either; their signal has a null to the northeast to accommodate WBWC. WHWN basically came online as a puzzle-piece signal away enough from both stations.

I still think the WBWC engineers need to check things out. Reception has not been as good in the last couple years where I am in Parma near State & Pleasant Valley. I sent a couple emails to the station a while back pertaining to the issue, but I never received any response.
