Apparently people like their rock in this town.
WRIF and WCSX continue to do very well in Detroit. Maybe Greater Media had something to do with their successEven with changing music habits as a result of the internet, WMGK and WMMR are still superserving Fluffyans. And they are definitely not glorified jukeboxes, probably a notable factor. Of course, not all heritage stations can survive forever. See WYSP and also Boston rock stations WAAF and WBCN.
On another note, WOGL (otherwise known as BIG) has continued to outperform BEN by a significant margin in 6+.
It's the popularity of Preston and Steve and the good variety of Rock Music IMOYeah WMMR is local 24/7 which is surprising in this day and age.
I wonder if that has anything to do with them being rated so highly?
I'm guessing no.
Alt 104.5 slowly creeping back up again
You think iheart will flip 106.1 againIn the last two months, WMMR went from the 6s to the 7s to the 8s, now at #1. And Classic Rock WMGK is not far behind at #3.
If you count both regular ratings and streaming, KYW had a good book. Added together, it places at #4. Streaming numbers plus over-the-air numbers also give a boost to WIP-FM. Added together, it places at #5.
And I don't understand WOGL. It gave itself a new moniker, it took most of its DJs off the air for a month and replaced some of them with new voice tracking. And it stayed almost steady in the ratings. Hardly a difference.
The full power Latino FM experiment doesn't seem to be doing any better than when it was tried 15 years ago. Rumba 106.1 remains one of the lowest rated full power FM stations in Philadelphia.
The rebrand happened at the beginning of the May book and the new air staff were established less than 3 weeks ago, at the end of the June book. You’re not going to see results of a rebrand/refresh that quickly, especially with the way Big has been executed thus far.And I don't understand WOGL. It just signed on give it a chanceYou think iheart will flip 106.1
I doubt the ratings will be too much differentThe rebrand happened at the beginning of the May book and the new air staff were established less than 3 weeks ago, at the end of the June book. 6+ maybe not. The demo specific ratings (25-54) are what matters to them the most.I doubt the ratings will be too much different
And Hispanic must-buys in a whole bunch of Medium Hispanic markets where they would be the only organized national operator. And to all of you running rumba off at this point please remember that I heart wants to have a one stop shop for ethnic buys In the market
You know the problem was demographics, right? That was discussed at length.I doubt the ratings will be too much different
No. Do we need to have this every month when meaningless numbers are published? You think iheart will flip 106.1 again
But at one point, BEN was beating 'OGL. 'OGL is beginning to reverse that BIG time, and with [possibly] improved standing on 25-54.I don’t get this comparing 98.1 to 95.7. There are songs that 95.7 plays that 98.1 won’t touch
They also have a huge overlap. No doubt the focus/emphasis on the “battle between them” stuff is over the top. Adult hits and classic hits can occupy their own spaces, but they are in some of the same audience space and share plenty of music.I don’t get this comparing 98.1 to 95.7.
