25 years of Hawk and Tom

Today, B93.7 celebrated 25 years of the Hawk and Tom morning show. Love them or not, that's pretty spectacular for any morning show on any station, but especially CHR.

I listen to Hawk & Tom on WFBC B93.7 while at WCU in my car and on my arm band and clock radios and on my Google Home Smart Speaker at home in Mint Hill, NC where I am outside of the WFBC 93.7 contour.

Too bad it didn’t come with the announcement they’re moving to WSPA-FM.

In seriousness, that is a long time, especially for this market. Have Ellis and Bradley been on that long? Bill Love probably has the most years combined, but that’s between two stations and a gap in between so doesn’t really count. John Boy and Billy also have around 30+ years on WROQ but that’s syndicated so doesn’t count either imo.

Anyone else notice that since Heidi is gone, they are doing much more on social media? I see a lot more videos. I'm betting that's part of Torry's new job.

IMHO, they look a bit silly. Two old guys trying to do TicToc stuff. I mean, at an AC station, maybe. It would be all tongue in cheek, but at a CHR? Oye.

And they’re still doing “Torture Tuesday” with Kato, aren’t they? When he was 25 or whatever, maybe. Now? Do they even know who their audience is?

The best thing Audacy has is Hawk and Tom and WSPA-FM. Invest the local dollars with the morning show that fits better on the AC and would probably resonate well with the core female demo that likely has many that remember them when they listened to CHR in the 90s and 00s. Seems like a win win, Audacy keeps the local morning show but moves it to a more fitting station. Put the syndication on the CHR.

The problem is....and I'm just guessing here....that the reason B93.7 is getting the ratings they do get is because of Hawk and Tom. Kids grew up, now have families, and still listen to them. They drive the kids to school listening to Torture Tuesdays, etc. If B dumps H&T, they disappear from the book. Plus, the morning show is the only thing local on the station right now.

I absolutely agree the show would be better on Magic, but it would absolutely kill 93.7.
