Jodesha Makes Multiple Format Shifts In Aberdeen/Grays Harbor

As KJET has gone CHR, I wonder if that will be the final format for when they start serving Olympia?

KANY flipped to CHR. KJET is simply simulcasting KANY.

Bill - is KJET likely to stay CHR as a 107.3 simulcast when it moves to Union and Mason County soon? Or is it getting sold to someone else...like another Christian outlet?
I see why 104.1 Bigfoot went on the air - I guess this replaces the 103.9 'Quake' station and it's probably to alleviate any interference on KVAS in Ilwaco.

Bigfoot Country is 104.1/93.1/106.1 fed from KSWW-HD4, covering Grays Harbor and Northern Pacific Counties. Nothing to do with KVAS.

Hmm...then why did the translator move from 103.9? It was 'The Quake' on 103.9 just a year or so ago. Broadcasting 'from somewhere off the Washington coast'. Guess it couldn't compete w/ KDUX.

Re: Crainbebo.
103.9 to 104.1 had nothing to do with KDUX, but everything to do with being too close frequency-wise to 103.5 which is our latest FM translator and connected forever (in perpetuity) to KBKW-AM. And it made more sense to use it as a 104.1/93.1/106.1 trombo feed from KSWW-HD4 for Hot Country, giving us a signal in Pacific County (106.1). Also we chose to launch JACK-FM on 100.5 (and KSWW-HD2) as a replacement for the Quake because it provided something we didn't have in Grays Harbor. We now have AC, CHR, Variety Hits, Classic Country, none are duplicated in Grays Harbor/Pacific. Hot Country, while duplicated, offers a signal in Pacific County and also offers Big D and Bubba, which IMHO is more interesting and entertaining than other local offerings. Our goal is to evolve with changes in local demographics. Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties used to average about 10 years older demographically, but as Westport, Ocean Shores, Seabrook, etc grow, the population is moving younger. We relaunched 107.3 as Y-1073 as something that was not available locally.

Re: The Quake, remember that 107.9 was a South Bend signal, and we moved frequency and COL to 107.3 and Cosmopolis. Also remember that 93.7 began as Hot Country, and was moved to South Mountain as a Seattle rim shot and is now owned by CFC.

Re: KJET, stay tuned. The center of gravity is changing.

Also stay tuned to another frequency coming to a radio near you.

Is there even a website or audio stream for the soon-to-relocate KJET? Quite sad that it got downgraded to C3 status at Union.

As I said "stay tuned".

On another website I view I saw that Sunnylands was awarded a Class A for nearby (your market) Raymond on 106.5... Thinking of an LMA here?

The Washington coastline , like the Oregon coastline, has gone through some tough economic times..

Yep, again... stay tuned!

Today, the FCC approved the KJET Union "downgrade" to C3 status. Weird... the modification paperwork looks like it's only good for eight months.. What gives? (Still, a smart CoL change..)

Yep, I'll be able to hear my station when I go shopping at the QFC in Belfair. Seriously, we'll be accepting DX signal reports...

The eight months is because the CP runs out in August 2022. Not a problem.

Currently streaming KSWW (AC), KANY/KJET(CHR), KBKW/TimberCountry (morning local talk/Classic Country. More to come.

KBKW AM 1450/FM 103.5 has flipped to Sacred Heart Radio. Morning talk show "Local Matters" continues on KSWW-HD3 and 94.7 FM Timber Country.

KJET didn't "get" downgraded. We downgraded it. Don't be sad. And since KJET and KANY are simulcasting, yes there is an audio stream. Check out www.gograysharbor.com

I apologize if my use of the "passive voice" caused an issue. Yes, obviously BossBill downgraded KJET from C2 to C3 in a tactical move. A non-directional antenna is less expensive than a directional one needed for the C2 license; tower leases in that region seem to just go up, up up. Besides, the coverage reduction as a C3 was not all that much. There should be plenty of buyers out there for that signal.
