Her agents are negotiating in public. I doubt Maddow leaves (for several reasons). More money and more vaca-time, she stays. Meanwhile, MSNBC should be developing some new hosts. Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell are over the hill and not liked by viewers. Joy Reid isn't up to a prime time slot.

According to this article, she gets $30M per year, will stay with the network at least through the 2024 election cycle to cover that, she will end her nightly program and will drop back to hosting a weekly program on MSNBC for 30 weeks per year.

Podcasting is certainly a risk. It could be hugely successful like David Portnoy or get no traction and be gone in a few weeks.

Maddow's net worth must be huge, so if she's sincere about what she says and is willing to take the risk I admire that.

I think some uber-rich folks lose sight of how much money they really need and what's really important.

Those "net worth" online sites give her between $25 million and $75 million in net worth. She can afford some time off.
