A very malfunctioning Loud 98.5 (W253CK) soldiers on.

Audio just keeps popping on and fading out at exactly 4 second intervals. I assume no one's listening. MP3 attached.

These things do happen and sadly as you've stated, they are not always caught or resolved as quickly as they should. I know from experience that sometimes brief "dropouts" aren't quite long enough to trigger a silence alarm or the like depending on the threshold that is set or pre-defined. You set it too low then specific songs can trigger it every time they air... think "Strawberry Fields Forever" by the Beatles. Short of having someone monitor things 24/7, it's just not all that easy in today's world and hopefully they were made aware of the issue so they can trace its origin.

They had an internet outage that messed with their Barix box. Was fixed earlier this week.

Next time feel free to reach out to the station themselves (https://loudradiopa.com - I built the site) and let them know. This goes for all stations. Remote monitoring doesn't tell them everything.

The last time this happened about 2 months ago, I had tweeted them about it, but I don't think the twitter is monitored.
