Royce International saga, update

"Five to six broadcasters" in this case does not mean five to six MAJOR broadcasters.
KPPC/KROQ FM had a very poor signal when it was on Flint Peak with KZLA and one or two others. It improved when the new transmitter was turned on (I have a recording of the switch, it was amazing) and again when it moved to Tongva Peak but still had problems until translators and boosters were authorized.

KROQ's Flint Peak signal wasn't THAT bad. Just a standard Class B (25kw at 660ft HAAT, IIRC). Problem is, all their Class B competitors were grandfathered in at greater height and/or power. And you need height+power to cover that huge metro area well.

Also, KROQ only has one booster. It covers the Santa Clarita Valley, a trouble spot for every L.A. FM station (except KYSR). Plus, KROQ has no translators I'm aware of.

If Ed Stolz does get all 3 of his radio properties back the more certain station that could be more profitable when its up for sale would be KREV 92.7

Why? It was reported by the court appointed liquidator that it was never profitable.

You are correct. I was referring to the overall approval of boosters, etc.
Not specifically KROQ's. That station indeed has just Santa Clarita.

Your clarification is appeciated.

I do remember there was a mentioned somewhere that if Ed Stolz gets his radio properties back he would sell KREV out of the 3 radio properties but right now there is no equipment to start operating KREV radio when it goes back on the air...

The license is still worth something

In the meantime, another court has upheld a lower court ruling that would keep the stations in receivership

The article says the victory for Larry Patrick is symbolic, because the bankruptcy returned the stations to Royce.

Another Crazy Ed can of worms....an extra large can. Could someone please give me a status update on this in say ten years from now? I'm sure this one will drag on for a long time!
