Audacy layoffs at KDKA 1020 & Y108

From the article you linked to, it appears there were reductions in force in several cities...And the only one metioned at KDKA was 1 guy from the morning show, but meanwhile the 2 other anchors and the traffic person remain - and the guy they cut had been there just a bit more than 2 years. In Pittsburgh, a city steeped in history where families go back generations, that's a blip on the RADAR. The reduction at Y108 removes 1 person from the morning show, but 2 others remain. In other words, while reductions are never pleasant, both those stations' programs are still covered by multiple staff.

At KDKA, the noon-3 slot has been open since last November, with a revolving slate of substitutes from the station and the FM 93.7 sports talk guy. Could this cut be so they can finally fill it?

Not only are they not getting rid of Griffin, he is getting a major promotion, as co-host of the morning show.

As of August 29 --
5:30 - 10 AM Griffin & Richert
10 - 2 Paul Zeise
2 - 6 Rick Dayton

Should have gotten rid of Griffin.
A stain on the market for way too long.

KDKA Pittsburgh Moves Marty Griffin to Morning Co-Host with Larry Richert beginning August 29. He replaces morning co-host Kevin Battle, who's out in the Audacy job cuts. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sports columnist and Sports KDKA-FM (93.7 The Fan) evening and weekend talent Paul Zeise will replace Griffin in middays from 10am-2pm. "All of these moves have been made to keep 100.1 FM and AM 1020, KDKA, the market leader in news, talk, information and entertainment," said SVP/Market Manager Michael Spacciapolli.

It appears WAMO was affected as well. According to their website, midday personality Malaysia is gone. Mike Dean has moved from nights to evenings, and the whole weekend lineup has been wiped clean. So what's next? WAMO turns into a jukebox? I knew once "Audacity" took over WAMO, it was going to go down the toilet.

KDKA is now airing "best of" in the evening hours. Very weird to hear Larry & Marty talking about morning stuff and giving morning times in the evening. I guess it's cheaper for them to just edit and re-air parts of the morning show.

With the cuts in staffing, there's now one less daytime host, so nobody to take that last slot before they go syndicated at 10.

"Best of" the Morning Show, Zeise, and Dayton on Friday evenings, Saturday 2-5 and Sunday 2-5. Rose Tennant doing some fill in, some of it clearly not local product, and some of it is nothing more than disguised paid programming, like the 9:30-10 PM slot last night. And her schtick is just right wing blabber anyhow. Friday evenings will go to sports in a month. Griffin and Pratt are 66, Moore is in his 70s. They got rid of Mangino (50s) and before him Ellis Cannon several years ago, and of course Battle. Who is on the bench? They have no one left, and they aren't bringing anyone along. Audacy is in or near bankruptcy, so it's probably going to get worse. Pratt continuously talks about his age and how he's nearing career end. Will it be "Best of" every evening? Zeise to the morning show and who? another retirement aging tv reporter or former anchor during the day? The future looks grim unless KDKA is sold.

Rob Pratte seems to be largely off the schedule at KDKA. Colin Dunlap doing 6-10 stated he would be doing the shift a lot when he's not on the Fan. Mr. Pratte still listed on Saturday and Sunday morning schedule. Is this an indication of semi-retirement?
