Subscription Price Is Going Up

They're attributing it to inflation, but the real reason is the recent 15% increase in music royalties. The company CEO addressed some of this in the quarterly conference call:

Last month, at least one stock analyst lowered expectations for the company, prompting a small drop in stock price.

I managed to get my previous plan back, but they made me work for it this time. There was, however an $8 royalty charge for the year

That's the 15%, and they want subscribers to know why the cost is going up.

BTW that 15% was only for the publishers. The record label royalty will go up next year.

At some point, will SiriusXM have to stop giving deep discounts to everyone who says the magic words and threatens to cancel their subscription? Or is a certain amount of unpublicized discounting baked into SXM's financial outlook that they provide to the SEC and shareholders every year?I know that the several thousand people who are members of SXM- oriented Facebook groups and message boards know about the discounts, and maybe a couple thousand or so take advantage. Have you seen any info on how many subscribers are actually paying full price?

I am dropping one of my subscriptions as the car the radio in is only used a few months a year.... and I get streaming with the other 2 so one is tied to my Amazon devices, the other to our phones....

when I am in the car I can use the SXM app, or with Android Auto it shows up as an icon in the WAZE traffic app.

I can also use Amazon Music....
