Do artists ever dislike being played or touring with another artist?

Hearing song segues sometimes, I sometimes hear two artists that couldn't be more different stylistically. I know nirvana wasn't a fan of being played next to top 40 artists. Do you think other artists roll their eyes when they hear their song alongside something else or going on tour with someone else? What do you think?

Good Lord... Are artists bothered if their song on a radio station is played next to one they don't like? Who cares?? Every time their music gets played, they make money one way or the other.
Give me a break.

I'm thinking mostly of people like Kurt Cobain who despised being played next to pop artists like Madonna

Even if they gave a squat about which artists their music is played before or after, there isn't much they could actually do about it - and as was stated upthread, they got paid, so who really gives a darn in the end. Regarding touring with other artists, there are scores of books written about various bands and artists and they're filled with stories of squabbles, fights, breakups and the like, with drama occurring both between bandmates, and between various bands and artists that toured together. The Eagles' Don Henley and Glen Frey famously didn't get along at times, with Frey telling Henley one night that as soon as they played the last note of the show, he was going to beat the sh!+ out of him. Elton John and Billy Joel toured together on and off for about 16 years and made hoards of cash from one sold-out run after another, but their relationship was often strained with Elton fed up with Billy's drinking and vices, and Joel unhappy because he liked to improvise and toss random songs in when he performed, while John preferred to stick to the script and often uses the same set list and banter each night.

And then there is the full soap opera behind "Go Your Own Way".

Look at how Stevie looks at Lindsey in this video, from 1997 which was 21 years after their breakup... and it went on until he was booted from the band another couple of decades later for the same cause.

Fleetwood Mac.....nuff said. You've seen the meme "Taylor Swift writes tearful songs about lost love. Stevie Nicks makes her ex (Lindsay Buckingham) play guitar while she sings about what an a***hole he is".

Maybe he admitted what an a-hole he was in their relationship, and was OK with it. In any case, the band fired him a few years ago.

I'm sure the artists don't care if their song is played next to that of an artist they don't like. They still get their approximately .006-.009 cents per play, at least online (I never have been able to pin down the amount broadcast royalties pay).

Artists don't get anything for broadcast play. Only authors and composers.

A lot of artists are composers, though. Taylor Swift would be an example, she at least co-wrote a lot of her songs. In the past, when rock music and alternative were more popular, artists wrote or co-wrote most of their songs.

The story I heard that she was talking to the audience in between songs and he was mouthing / silently mocking her to another part of the auditorium. I saw them in Atlanta and IIRC at the end of the concert they did take a bow together side by side, They sounded great but very few smiles from anyone on stage. Touring s really tiring. Throw in drama and it could could effect the music / show. They really were professionals. Of course they got paid quite well for their pain.
