“Days of our Lives” to move the hourglass to Peacock

With all the news about the death of Queen Elizabeth, it's entirely possible that today's episode might end up being the last one to ever air on NBC
Yep, that was the case. It will be interesting to see if the dyed-in-the-wool-fans will make the migration. I'm sure they've got at least one full season in the can which we'll find out. Or unless the migration doesn't go well, maybe we won't.

This kind of reminds me of when Sale of The Century had its final 10-15 minutes of the original broadcast pre-empted due to breaking news coverage about the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989. Bad luck for NBC too.

If it didn't play in the Eastern and Central zones, it likely didn't (or won't) play anywhere

The Executive Producer of DOOL has stated they have episodes recorded through Feb 2023. Which means the upcoming Peacock episodes will only be about 35-40 minutes because of room left for network commercial breaks.

Meh, didn’t harm NBC one way or another what was pre-empted, just a coincidence that some hard core fans may have been irked by.

And most viewers DDR (or VHS tape) Days anyway. Soon they can get caught back up without having to record it.
DOOL moving to Peacock has finally resolved two of the biggest complaints fans have. No more of those preempted episodes, and excessive commercial breaks. Fans should be rejoicing instead of being angry.

Embrace the future!

On their early evening newscast tonight (September 9th), NBC-owned WBTS Boston aired a segment on how "Days Of Our Lives" fans can see the show on Peacock.

"NBC News Daily" should be done live from 2-3 P.M. ET, so it could air live across the "lower 48" so on the West Coast, it wouldn't have to air on tape after the four hours of "Todsy".

But you're ignoring NBC stations in the West and Mountain coasts who air local 11am and 12pm newscasts in those time zones, like KNBC, KSL, KGW, and KUSA, for example. And some actually do prefer broadcasting local news during those times so gotta be careful with that.

KPNX Mesa is at least doing an experiment as a result by putting NBC News Daily at 12 Noon and having its midday news at 1:00pm instead.

Um, no. That’s a valuable syndicated slot for stations like…I don’t know…oh yeah, WNBC, to name a small one in their portfolio. If there is breaking news, that can be handled accordingly for the west. Theynknowmwhat they’re doing scheduling wise.

NBC formerly aired network programming (e.g. Another World) at 2 pm but I believe gave the hour back to the local affiliates. I think it would be incredibly difficult to ask the affiliates to give that hour/time slot back to the network. Other than the O & O stations i’m not sure if any affiliated would give that hour back to the network

According to the Directv schedule WNBC 4 in New York will air NBC News Daily at Noon (11am central time) the same time it aired Days of our Lives. KNBC 4 in Los Angeles will air NBC News Daily at Noon (2pm central time) and will air the syndicated Access Hollywood Live (now Access Daily with Mario and Kit) at 1pm (3pm central) which was the time Days of our Lives aired there.

In Des Moines WHO will air Rachel Ray at 1pm in Days of our Lives former time slot and air NBC News Daily at 2pm.

So I wonder if it will be live no matter where your at or it will be on tape delay being Noon eastern/11am central for broadcasts on stations later in the day.

They'll have four live feeds at 12 Noon, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm (all Eastern time). It'll be tape-delayed for those who carry it later in the day on the West Coast (plus Alaska and Hawaii).

Did Global TV in Canada responded to the Days streaming move?

Its moving to the W Network:

I remember when the Norfolk, VA NBC affiliate broke into a Seinfeld episode to report a multiple alarm fire in late April or early May of 1998. WAVY was forced to show the missing three minutes during the 11:00 o'clock news that night. IIRC, Putty was selling Jerry a car. (Even the business owner said he was watching Seinfeld when he learned of the blaze, in which no one was killed or hurt, BTW.)

Its moving to the W Network:
According to the article, which was published on 9/2/22:

"No announcement has been made yet on what Global will air in DAYS’ old timeslot. NBC Daily News will occupy the former DAYS slot in the U.S."

According to the Global TV schedule, Property Brothers: Buying & Selling will take over the soap opera's former slot in Canada.

Hope they run a crawl during NBC Daily News this week informing DOOL viewers that show is now stewing on Peacock for the small number of viewers that aren’t aware of this change.
