Football on the radio 2022

It's that time of year again, so here is who airing football on the radio airwaves in 2022:

NFL:

The Browns are on Cleveland flagships WKNR ESPN 850, WKRK 92.3 The Fan, and WNCX 98.5. They're also on longtime Akron outlets WAKR 1590/93.5 and WONE 97.5, WHBC 1480 in Canton, WKST 1200 in Youngstown, and WMJK 100.9 in Sandusky/Vacationland

Remember the Browns will have a new announce team this year of longtime voice Jim Donovan and Nathan Zegura in the booth, and Je'Rod Cherry on the sidelines

92.3 The Fan also airs Westwood One NFL coverage (Sun/Mon/Thur primetime games, playoffs, Super Bowl).

College:

THE Ohio State Buckeyes are on longtime Cleveland home WKNR, WAKR in Akron, WHBC in Canton, WEOL 930/100.3 Elyria/Lorain, WNIO 1390 in Youngstown, and WLEC 1450/93.5 in Sandusky/Vacationland

Longtime announcers Paul Keels and Jim Lachey will be in the booth, with Marty Bannister on the sidelines

The Akron Zips are on flagship WHLO 640 in Akron and Cleveland home WHK 1420/102.5

The Toledo Rockets are on Cleveland home WJMO 1300/94.5

And the Bowling Green Falcons are on Cleveland outlet WHKW 1220/96.9

WKNR also has ESPN national games, including the major bowls and National Championship game, while 92.3 The Fan will air Westwood One games

High School:

WKNR has it's High School Hysteria game of the week on Fridays, and WEOL has Lorain County covered with games from that neck of the woods.

Think’s for the information, I’m from the Dayton area so if anybody’s from that area and wants to listen to the Browns. It’ll be on 953 and 101.1 The Eagle. They do have a hybrid digital station it’s WHKO 99.1 FM HD2 witch is K99.1FM

It sucks that the Browns on so many stations in the Cleveland/Akron area. About half of my presets air their games. Good grief.

My post is wrong. It’s on WHIO Radio AM 1290/95.7FM but when the Dayton Flyers college basketball is playing during the Browns broadcast, the Cleveland game will move to The Eagle 953/101.1 and 99.1 FM HD2 that station isn’t prepared when the Browns broadcast has to move to there station. Also in that same area The Cincinnati Bengals broadcast is on 104.7 WTUE a 70’s -2010 rock station

Why in the world is BG on a Cleveland station, which doesn't even reach campus? Lots of BG alumni there?
For a station like WHKW, the local avails are easy revenue on a Saturday afternoon (and in which they’d either be running brokered fare or infomercials).

It’s also possible BG, or the production company fronting the broadcasts, might be paying WHKW for the airtime.

I had mis-interpreted the previous comment as implying that WHKW was the flagship. BG was somewhat the default college choice among grads of my high school in West Central Ohio (before Wright State had a branch campus); but I don't remember hearing much about their sports then.

To add the Columbus area if any of you Clevelanders ever find yourselves down our way during football season ...
97.1 The Fan is Ohio State's flagship (ever since the 80s and for many years to come) and also is our Browns affiliate for the second consecutive season. They also carry the Westwood One games. Browns or WW1 might get bumped to 1460 AM if there is a Blue Jackets or Crew conflict.
105.3/105.7 HD2 carries the Bengals, although our area also is covered by WLW.
105.3 also has carried Ohio University sports in recent years, but that no longer appears to be the case judging from the past two weekends. That means MAC football, or pretty much any college football other than OSU save the occasional national broadcast, is pretty much nonexistent on our local airwaves. We do get UC games from WLW.

I remember when WFOB out of Fostoria was the flagship station for BG sports. This has been 20 or more years ago, during the time I attended Toledo. Sometimes it could be heard at night, but it was not always an easy catch.

I also remember those days, with Dave Carr and Dave Horgar on the call for WFOB! "We're Full Of Baloney" had a decent signal also!

Was lucky enough to meet Dave Horger once when I was a Toledo student broadcaster. Nice guy and it's definitely his voice I remember more than anyone else's with BG sports in those days.
I'm glad WFOB had that signal as it sometimes was the only way for me to hear OSU basketball if the game did not air on Toledo radio or television.

I worked with both Dave C. and Dave Horgar during the early 80's. Both were class acts. I remember we broadcasted a game from Toledo (High School) using a Marti and could hear WFOB clearly at night!

102.7 WEBN is region-locked from play-by-play Bengals broadcasts. I tried tuning in for a second yesterday and got a looped recording through iheart.com telling me that I should update my location settings if I believe I'm in the right area to get the broadcast. That's okay, though, because my Paramount+ picks up either CBS19 or WWJ Detroit (depending on which way the wind blows, I suppose; last week, it was WWJ Detroit, and this week, it was CBS19 here) and gave me both games so far. I work next Thursday night, so I'll miss the first half of the live game - I might be able to get it through NFL+, but I'm not sure; audio shouldn't be an issue through there - since Amazon Prime has the Thursday games on lockdown.

Try ESPN 1530's stream for the Bengals, and WLW after the Reds are finished. I was able to listen to most Bengals games last year through WLW's stream, but I'm also in suburban Columbus and I don't know how far one can hear Bengals games that way before the geofencing kicks in. We get Reds games here via WLW's stream as well.
I am guessing you are somewhere between Cleveland and Toledo?
