Ch.2 and Ken Burns controversy

With Ken Burns back on PBS this weekend in what may be his most jolting documentary yet, it reminds you of the ending for Emily Rooney at Ch.2 around this time last year. She had been sticking up -on air- for Burns who some fellow film makers feel has too much attention from PBS when they do not. She was dismissive of those complaining. She apologized and was let go by GBH.
Rooney announced recently that she's starting a podcast with her Beat the Press format attempting to return.
As for Burns this 3-part series could be a tough sell.

That's why someone like Ken Burns does a film like this. Others have addressed the subject, but he brings a different heritage to it.

Someone like Ken Burns follows his interests regardless of the controversy.

For him, there is no "sell." Ratings don't matter. He has sponsors who support what he does, and PBS is there as well.
