Yet *ANOTHER* terrible move by the Eagle

Who is making these stupid decisions?

It's an awful idea. It's more talk and more getting away from the music. It sounds terrible.

I'm speechless.

This is an astoundingly stupid decision even though Saturday and Sunday nights aren’t exactly ratings hotspots. It just further kills the music. Again I’m getting old-school WCKG vibes here, of a rock station that completely lost its way and eventually turned into a talk station that ran a few random rock songs.

It's painful to watch. This is a (small) indication that they aren't really planning on changing anything. If anything, they're just going to continue getting worse.

Interesting idea. Loveline was a legendary radio show that began on KROQ in LA in the 1980s. It's what led to the popularity of Dr. Drew and later Adam Carolla. It started as a Sunday night show on a rock station, and was syndicated to other rockers around the country. What are most rock songs about? Sex. So talking about sex is not that far from singing about sex. Sex sells.

Right now they're playing "more music" Saturday and Sunday nights, and what's it getting them? Nothing. Playing more music obviously isn't helping The Eagle, especially Saturday & Sunday nights. So what's wrong with trying something different?

I'm getting the vibes of KISW in Seattle.

iHeart CHRs were running Christian counselor Dawson McCallister on Sunday nights several years ago.

"What are most rock songs about? Sex. So talking about sex is not that far from singing about sex."

lol. I'm not being rude, but you are WAY out of touch. Hardly any rock songs today are about sex.

And again, subscribing to something that worked 25 to 30 years ago isn't getting ANYONE in radio ANY where.

It's called EVOLUTION, something radio has no clue about. And FOR GOD'S SAKES, the Eagle can't BUY a clue.

Doing what they've been doing isn't working either. They can continue to beat their heads against the wall or try something different. So they're trying something different.

You don't like it. But you also don't like what they've been doing.

KEGL carried LoveLine in 2000. I set up the automation to record it but unfortunately it was played a day later instead of live

It's not a matter of what I like. It's a matter of doing something, and doing it correctly.

I've already demonstrated in an earlier thread what's wrong musically.

And THAT is just the music.

Then we can talk about who had the bright idea to leave Russ on for several months completely hammered out of his mind. And THEN who decided it was a good idea to hire THE TREEHOUSE? And who thought it'd be good to hire the disaster at 2, which has absolutely NOTHING in common with a typical Eagle listener.

When you're 28th in the market with HERITAGE call letters, you MUST change. It's not sustainable, but the more annoying fact is, someone somewhere doesn't give a sh*t. And that absolutely reflects the Godforsaken inability of this industry to evolve.

The above analysis of music is from someone who know what he's talking about, not just broadly, but locally for this particular City. And it isn't really that hard to see and figure out. It really IS NOT DIFFICULT.

Yeah, they're either whiny, nihilistic dirges or headbangingly loud, nihilistic rants set to music. And way too many of them are about social or political outrage. And you wonder why current rock can't find consensus artists or even consensus songs?

The point is they ARE evolving, and leaving you behind. You want one thing, and they're doing something different.

Yes we already saw your analysis of the music. They could change the songs, and you'd do the same thing with the new list. That's the state of rock music today. No consensus. Everyone is like Goldilocks, saying this porridge is too hot or too cold. You can't program a radio station when people nit-pick very song. That's why they're #28. They have to come up with something other than more music, because more music just leads to more nit-picking.

That's a pretty silly statement. Playing your usual format is not the wrong answer.

Or if it is, the usual format needs some surgery.

Yeah, lol, they've evolved into 28th place.

What are you even talking about? Yes, you CAN and SHOULD nit pick every single song.

Why are you here?
