Cochise - New Mexico Happenings

It appears that Ted Tucker's crew withdrew or had their paperwork dismissed for a C1 upgrade application for KRMK Las Vegas, NM. Had it been granted as-is, it would have put a 60dBu signal over Santa Fe. From my cursory look I thought the RF exposure was a bit much - at the 250 value.

It'll be refiled. There was a filing error where they erroneously filed indicating that no filing fee was applicable.

A new application was filed on 9/20. However there have been a few applications filed since 2010 to upgrade this station to give it a similar coverage to KBAC but of course none of those were ever completed. Also, in 2017 it modified the license to non-commercial status but changed back to commercial earlier this year and there have also been about ten periods of silence some lasting close to a year. Info is here:https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=KR...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en The format on this station is apparently country from the 80s to today and the website is not much: https://country937.com/

This looks like a project that might not be financially feasible. There is likely not much money in Las Vegas which also has about six other commercial stations but if this station does finish the upgrade would Santa Fe really be able to support another station? Also, KBAC has a booster in Santa Fe which has always been the target market despite being licensed to Las Vegas so KRMK may also need to add a booster if they want to target that area. It would also displace translator K229DU which airs a sports talk format from I think KVSF 1400 AM. K229CL in Albuquerque likely won't be affected.
