Me-TV lost 14 affiliates (in a snap)

On August 31 Me-TV lost 12 Sinclair and 2 Scripps affiliates. Many were quickly replaced by other stations but not all. Let me be the first to say that Me-TV seems to be losing its grip and slipping from its perch in both programming and popularity (compared to where they once were). Sinclair, Scripps to pull Me TV from some stations on August 31 — here's how to keep watching
15 are listed here (one is a satellite station):
  • KAEF (Channel 23) in Eureka, California
  • KATU (Channel 2) in Portland, Oregon
  • KDBC (Channel 4) in El Paso, Texas
  • KECI (Channel 13) in Missoula, Montana
  • KRCR (Channel 7) in Redding, California
  • KTVM (Channel 6) in Butte, Montana
  • KTXS (Channel 12) in Abilene, Texas
  • KDBZ-CD (Channel 6) in Bozeman, Montana
  • WJAC (Channel 6) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania
  • WCIV (Channel 4) in Charleston, South Carolina
  • WGBA (Channel 26) in Green Bay, Wisconsin
  • WJAR (Channel 10) in Providence, Rhode Island
  • WLEX (Channel 18) in Lexington, Kentucky
  • WRSP (Channel 55) in Springfield, Illinois
  • WTOV (Channel 9) in Steubenville, Ohio

Yet in Phoenix we have two MeTv stations...if you have Directv you get KMOH from Kingman, everybody else gets 7.2 from KAZT (Prescott/Phoenix)

Me-TV seems to be losing its grip and slipping from its perch in both programming and popularity (compared to where they once were).
It's a concept with a limited shelf life, so long as they continue to let the schedule stagnate.

Their prime time lineup has been fixed for 3+ years now: two episodes of M*A*S*H at 7pm ET, followed by Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, Green Acres and two episodes of Hogan's Heroes.

Even though all of those shows have a significant number of episodes, they will repeat the whole series every 4 or 5 months.

You'd think they'd swap in something after 3 years, just for variety's sake.

This seems more like it's economically better for the station owner to carry its own diginet, rather than someone else's.
But as was alluded to above, I think the "heyday" of many of these channels is in the past and the herd will be thinned. The programming is stale (obviously) and the demographic interested in these shows is waning.

We can still get Me-TV on Dish, but, because of the reasons outlined above, I haven't watched at least the evening programming in quite a while. Can't they get something like GET SMART or WKRP in Cincinnati back on, along with a lot of other shows that would add much-needed variety.

I agree about their schedule being stale, and the programming selection leans very old compared to other networks like Antenna TV. The demographic of people still interested in shows from this era has to be pretty small. In some markets like NYC, they added MeTV+ which is a second Me TV channel with additional shows. They probably would have been better off mixing the MeTV+ shows into the regular MeTV schedule to shake up the lineup.

Like cable not all subchannels will survive, consider DigiTV but interesting that KGTV, KNXV, and WPTV still carry the classic subchannels despite that Scripps is mandated to carry its own channels like Ion, CourtTV, Newsy, etc.

That's because DirecTV doesn't carry local subchannels unless they are major network affiliates. At least that was their policy at the time I quit them, almost 3 years ago. They do carry national feeds of some of them, though, although MeTV may not be one of them.

Yet for a few weeks this spring DTV was broadcasting the KAZT MeTV version (MeTV Arizona, with local commercials) instead of the KMOH version (MeTV Phoenix - no local commercials).

According to who? The ratings say otherwise, they were the 23rd most popular TV network in 2021 beating out many well known cable networks like TV Land, A&E, Lifetime and AMC. The only OTA channel without original programming that beats MeTV in ratings is ION. While I agree with others that MeTV should add more variety to their schedule, they remain one of the highest rated diginet channels. I think the real reason Sinclair and Scripps are pulling their MeTV affiliations is not because of ratings, but because they want to run their own diginets instead.

That's pretty much what Tyler the Antenna Man said in his video that was posted above, and that I had posted in an earlier thread. Hopefully it will be picked up by another station in any area where it was dropped.

Same here. MeTV is the #1 classic diginet for a reason. They have evolved their programming with each generation, but not trying to throw away the older generations either. Full House reruns air on Sunday (they started after Saget passed away), but 1950s-1960s westerns are also part of the lineup, as is The Brady Bunch, Laverne & Shirley, etc., shows that my mom loved as a teen.

Collector's Call is a hoot to watch, too!

ME-TV is on low power WLLA .2 is on Charter Spectrum CH: 194. I'm not into the network myself, Sinclair for a long time did have Comet on WWMT .3 until last year when Nexstar put it on WXSP .3 WWMT put TBD on .3 never did air Charge as that was on WXMI .4 for a couple of years was off for a few months in 2021 before WOTV .3 picked it up. As most of the Nexstar stations carried the Scripps diginets whereas most are now on Fox17 or WZPX ION.
