According to the press, there was an island-wide power outage of Cuba earlier this week. Was anyone able to confirm that it took R. Rebelde, R. Progressso, and their friends off the air? If so, any interesting catches?

There is another thread on this. Cuba has island-wide outages all the time in the last year or so, particularly since they are no longer getting donated petroleum from Venezuela. Cuba is an island, and not part of a power grid, so failures are all the more frequent as there is no backup.
I monitored all the major networks and several regional ones during the supposed "island wide" power outage and they were all on the air. Most don't have independent generators, particularly the regional networks.
What we have are reporters who don't know that Cuba has constant power outages and the ones outside of the three western provinces are not related to the storm.
