Some questions on winning prizes in LA

Just wanted to know if I call in to claim a prize I won can I live out of market to get it. Or are the rules still the same. Do I have to live in market to get it? Just thought I would ask. I'm not sure if the rules have changed

I live in Palmdale so am I out of market?
You are in the LA radio market.

All depends on the station's own rules for a contest. If they specify "residents of LA and Orange counties only" then someone in Riverside or San Berdoo is S Outtta Luck.

There is no government regulation of contest zone rules.

Hear in NE Ohio I have heard some stations say that you MUST live in the geographical on-air listening area of the radio station in order to win. I think I even heard it on Zoomer radio out of Canada. Since they have a huge area that covers a good chunk of the USA, I can see them wanting CANADIAN listeners winning. Unlees it's an iheart station which tries to keep it on the down-low that their formerly local contests are now nationwide so you may be competing with tens of thousands of callers [well, it's iheart, so may just a few dozen callers.] And the B.S. of having to DRIVE to the station to get your prize....forget it.

One example:

In the early days of Conway's KFI show, he'd send out mugs to people who played (and won a round of) What the Hell Did Jesse Jackson Say?

They would mail them since most people in LA/OC didn't want to drive 2+ hours round trip to pick up a mug in Burbank during business hours. So, I can't help but wonder if mailing the prize is more common in LA than, say, my hometown market of Salt Lake City where contest winners were always expected to pick up the prize at the station in person.
