Would all of the stations with K calls be based in West Memphis?
Yes, and KWAM was indeed on the other side of the river. I lived in eastern Arkansas, about 75 miles from Memphis, from late 1977 to early 1981, so I can provide the formats for a few of the stronger stations listed as of one year previous to this listing.
WHBQ -- CHR, but would flip to oldies later in 1981
WREC -- Full-service MOR/talk/news, home of Memphis Chicks (Class AA) baseball.
WMPS -- Country
WMC(AM) -- Country
WMC-FM -- CHR
WZXR -- AOR
