Audacy makes enough from it's FM stations to tolerate WTIC AM low ratingsWTIC(AM) continues to sink alarmingly in 6+, and chances are excellent that 55+ is the only demo it's doing well in. Has billing started to reflect these realities yet? Is there any way for Audacy to climb out of this. It owns the top two commercial FMs in the market (WRCH and WTIC-FM), both of which appeal to younger listeners far more than news/right wing talk 'TIC does, so simulcasting 'TIC on either makes no sense. Audacy's other Hartford FM is rhythmic/hip-hop WZMX, which, obviously, also skews young. Hard to imagine that one being flipped, either. I suppose Audacy could make an offer to Red Wolf, which owns translators in Hartford for its Spanish CHR and classic hits stations, and buy an FM outlet for 'TIC that way, but translators wouldn't come close to covering the whole market with sufficient signal strength.
What next, indeed, for WTIC 1080?
Steve, you still make me laugh after all of these years, reading your posts on the NYRMB & Radio Discussions CT!WTIC 1080 is a placeholder.
A most ornate, showroom-new 50,000 watt placeholder, certainly .... but one you get out for Thanksgiving dinner. That's it. Perhaps Travellers can re-acquire it and use it as a thunderous TIS station for motorists.

(Decidedly O/T, but maybe of worth to some: On the first occasion -- there were two -- when it was posted that WTIC would leave the air one night for some xmtr work, KRLD Dallas came booming into here in the absence, into NEPA.
And it boomed onto Long Island. So loud that a pal of mine there caught the loud CBS newscast and tuned away, thinking it was WTIC.
On the second silent occasion, KRLD was far weaker here.)
