Rocky
Tuesday, December 21, 1976

Although Rocky premiered in New York City exactly a month before, and much of the rest of the US on December 3, it didn't premiere in Rocky's hometown of Philadelphia until that date, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News (via newspapers.com). Incidentally, it premiered in Boston just the following day.

8:00 Charlie & Company - Starring Flip Wilson and Gladys Knight (intended to be CBS's answer to The Cosby Show; lasted only that one season)

The eldest and youngest sons on this series, respectively, were played by Kristoff St. John (best known for his run on The Young & the Restless, before his passing in 2019) and Jaleel White. St. John had actually guest-starred the year before as one of Denise Huxtable's boyfriends on a Cosby Show episode. Another notable cast member in Charlie & Company was Terry McGovern, who a few years later did the voice of Lauchpad McQuack on Disney's original DuckTales and Darkwing Duck.

Another Y&R/Family Matters connection--Bryton James (AKA Bryton McClure); he played the Winslows' young nephew Richie Crawford on FM, and has played portrayed Devon Hamilton on Y&R since 2004. On the latter, he is/was the adopted son to St. John's Neil Winters character.
