Remember, 610 is likely kept on the air just to be able to operate a translator which is probably the next step.

I don't know why they're wasting their money by putting a jock on that station. The signal is way too limited to be competitive.
105.3 HD-2 gets out like bad news. 102.5 is technically translating 105.3 HD-2. I am not sure I would bother adding a translator for 610 unless they are planning to have different programming.I don't know why they're wasting their money by putting a jock on that station. If you're referring to 610 AM, I live 40 miles east of Charlotte and it's stronger than WBT day and night.I don't know why they're wasting their money by putting a jock on that station. The signal is way too limited to be competitive.
Nobody listens to HD radio, and nobody under 50 listens to AM. The Block's target demo is 18-34. Stations also don't make any real money on streaming. Again, I don't see the point of hiring anybody. It's a waste of money. 102.5 is not competitive with WPEG and struggles to compete with Streetz as well.105.3 HD-2 gets out like bad news. 102.5 is technically translating 105.3 HD-2. Honestly I think the future is streaming. In short order I googled 102.5 the block and next thing you know it is coming out of my computer speakers. Kids today don't listen to radio. Signal doesn't matter.

I’m taking a wild guess, maybe part of the block hiring one jock for a 7-hour air shift might be to generate advertisers and live remote events. I leave it to the radio professionals here to let me know if I'm wrong.Nobody listens to HD radio, and nobody under 50 listens to AM. The Block's target demo is 18-34. If Radio One was making money on The Block they would have left it on 92.7. 102.5 only covers northwest Charlotte, and there are dayparts where it doesn't even register with Nielsen. Agencies aren't buying stations ranked as poorly as 102.5. The best they could hope for is local advertisers buying both WOSF and 102.5 as a combo, but RO actually does poorly with local advertisers. Radio One operated at a loss in the Charlotte market until 2015/2016 (exception 2004/2005), and wasting money on a station with little to no return on investment is not smart. WLNK has too many jocks as well, especially if you compare it to WKQC and WLKO which rank much higher.I’m taking a wild guess, maybe part of the block hiring one jock for a 7-hour air shift might be to generate advertisers and live remote events. As for Streetz, outside of the syndicated morning show it’s jockless. Streetz PD moved his daily show to their sister station Streetz 87.7/102.1 Norfolk.
Thanks for the break down. I appreciate it. As for Core Radio Group, do you think they’ll weather the storm and have local full time Jocks down the line? The reason I ask since streetz beat the block ratings wise in the present and past.If Radio One was making money on The Block they would have left it on 92.7. 102.5 only covers northwest Charlotte, and there are dayparts where it doesn't even register with Nielsen. Doc Love is still PD and voicetracks his afternoon show on Streetz from Norfolk. Streetz also has mixers and weekend jocks. Streetz is actually operating at a loss in Charlotte. The Atlanta station really carries that group.
Listening now, still Hip Hop current song is awful autotune. They ran what sounded like a liner all over what sounded like a song. It's such a mess I don't even know if you'd call it Hip Hop. Do people really listen to this stuff? What a waste of a good signal. Is 610 still airing the hip hop format? Is there any update on 610 - are they trying to sell/lease it? I’m assuming the hip hop format is just to keep the license active.
I don’t know why they don’t just simulcast Praise on it? Older demo that is more likely to listen to AM, plus 610 covers parts of the market that 100.9 doesn’t. 18-34 is not listening to AM.Is 610 still airing the hip hop format? As someome that grew up on hip hop and still listens to current music, yes. If people didn’t want to hear it, there wouldn’t be three stations, let alone just one, in the market playing it.Listening now, still Hip Hop current song is awful autotune...It's such a mess I don't even know if you'd call it Hip Hop.
