I hope this series of borderline off-topic muses is met with some acknowledgement here.
See, through the years Philadelphia Radio boards have been my go-to place for music climate ; help with song titles and such. You folks are obviously well-versed in pop music and formats vis-a-vis other forums (or at least more amenable to discussion on the issue).
It was a few years back when there were a few posts about changes in pop music, a few of which included the notion of some political factors having an impact ('God forbid, a war -- or worse, a civil war' was how one read).
Well, the Election results have dropped us off at this point of conceivable disorientation and potential. As occured in places like Chicago and San Francisco, for instance, back in the Sixties, youth found a marked agenda and its voice developed into Progressive, pop-progressive, AoR and then Classic Rock. Youth essentially burned down the Brill Building then without even realizing it.
The 2022 elections showed a notable surge in younger response to voting. A lot of of those kids were outside the 30-49 demo window that's become the hand-stamp for admittance to modern radio's emphasis.
Now, radio as we know it shows apathy toward enticing these younger listeners back to the dials the way bland, cookie-cutter TV shows once did. But to me, some similarities to those eras are present and ripe.
Do any of you folks envision possible changes (or at least some rumblings) that could develop into musical trends, social reactions and maybe even formats at this point?
(Lol -- I was #222 in the draft lottery back when this was a personal issue, btw)
