Well played sir!Have either played a Pat Benatar Christmas song yet? Who will be first, maybe KZOK?
I think they should add betting on stations flipping to Christmas with sports betting apps. Oh wait, there's probably a total of ten humans on this earth that actually care. Now that Lotus is running it, will KPLZ even do the Christmas thing this year? They jumped in early when they first started, but they typically wait until the first of December. Spirit will go on Black Friday.

Star 101.5 may not go xmas this year.....interesting change as xmas is a tradition for them and seems to do well every year...Why?94.1 and 106.9 have flipped to Christmas. Can 101.5 and 105.3 be far behind?
The cynical side of me says "anything STAR used to do .... we'll do it differently". So it fits in my mind!Star 101.5 may not go Christmas this year.....interesting change as Christmas is a tradition for them and seems to do well every year...Why?
New owners, new philosophy?Star 101.5 may not go Christmas this year.....interesting change as Christmas is a tradition for them and seems to do well every year...Why?
Or they wait until Santa appears at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. To me, that marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. At least with Yakima, KARY is alone with their Christmas format and can decide for themselves when to flip to Christmas, which is always on Black Friday...because the people of Yakivegas eat turkey and stuffing FIRST before listening to Andy Williams and Mariah Carey. Apparently!
You are right about KXXO, they flipped to Christmas today. At least they play a much more diverse playlist than other stations, including (surprisingly for Olympia) lots of religious carols. Who else is playing "A Soulin'" by Peter Paul and Mary or "Angels We Have Heard On High"?Don't forget rimshots in the north sound (KAFE) and south sound (KXXO) likely flipping in the coming days. The train left the station already, STAR.

If it sounds good I'm willing to try it. It might end up reminding me of Christmas.I don't think a station should play "a much more diverse playlist" of Christmas music. It's self-indulgent and doesn't make sense.
The reason we listen to Christmas music is for familiarity, to remind us of past Christmas holidays. There's really no other reason why we suddenly want to hear music from decades ago, some songs before we were born. To hear a Peter Paul & Mary Christmas song we don't know does not remind us of happy memories.
I'm not against Peter Paul & Mary, if they sing a song we all know. But if we only have six or seven weeks of holiday music, how can we develop an affinity for an unfamiliar song we'll only hear a few times before it's put away until next November?
