If that's the case, it still doesn't help them that they're using a canned syndicated oldies format when competitors are locally programmed.I was just in Phoenix and I heard KIKO on 96.5 with a strong signal. Either the translator is silent or it’s rebroadcasting KIKO AM
It’s not doing the canned oldies format all the time. The other day I was listening and it was now being branded as “Awesome 96.5”. It was playing more 80’s and was not oldies at all.If that's the case, it still doesn't help them that they're using a canned syndicated oldies format when competitors are locally programmed.
Promise you, its not any of the Desert Valley stations, they would want a lot more than 1.5 million! Plus they have more than 2 FM's. I know a broker that was trying to sell two rim shot FM's who have different owners. KRPH Morristown on 99.5 that has been off the air more than its been on the air, paired with KIKO-FM Claypool on 96.5. One on the west side of the metro and the other on the east side of the metro to create full market coverage,, even though that wouldn't be totally true. Only other guess might be the two Sierra H Broadcasting stations, KZCE 101.1, and KAJM 104.3, but I would guess they might want more than 1.5 million as well. So who knows. But it sure isn't 94.9/95.1.
According to Radio Insight, Vic Michaels is selling 96.5 K243BN Laveen to George Kimble’s Media Sales LLC for $50,000. Moving the translator to 95.9 in Cave Creek with KIKO FM as the originating signal.I thought John Low was in an ongoing fight with Vic Michael over that translator. IIRC, K243BN might still be simulcasting K-Love.

Is Laveen even a real town? How is it a COL? I thought it was part of Phoenix.

Census designated places can become cities of license. They need not be incorporated. All you need is a post office with that name on it. Laveen's ZIP code is 85339, and that's all that is required. Is Laveen even a real town? How is it a COL? I thought it was part of Phoenix.
As pointed out correctly, translators and LPFM's don't have any city of license coverage requirements. You can pick whatever town or area you want to serve. Even multiple towns. The best one is John Low's K247CF licensed to Payson. While Payson is a real community, the translator has absolutely zero coverage of its so called city of license transmitting from the Usery Mountain in the East Valley. Is Laveen even a real town? Usery Mtn? Shirley you jest! He's got a CP for South Mtn..even further away from Payson. As pointed out correctly, translators and LPFM's don't have any city of license coverage requirements. Isn't there one that is now licensed to Delaware that originally had it's CP based in Wyoming?...and then there are the city-hopping LPTVs.
