Kristen & Steve Expand to Cape Cod

They will be simulcast on Cool 102. I’ve wondered whether iHeart will just simulcast the two stations completely, getting rid of the "Cool 102" branding and going with something like, "B101...at 101.5 in Providence and 101.9 on the Cape." If they go for a full simulcast, at least there would be a semi-local PM Driver on both stations, as B101 currently has a local host (Bill George).

And speaking of local hosts, I wonder if Doug and Jenn will be expanded to 106.1 WCOD. They do, however, have two local hosts.

Interestingly, the breaks on WCOD seem to run about 2 minutes AHEAD of 93.3 Now/WSNE. For a morning show that based out of Providence, I find that quite peculiar.

its called voicetracking

Right. But there's two things about this that drive me nuts. One, iHeart could do a better job syncing up the times so it sounds like a simulcast. And two, it's evidence that the show is not live to begin with. It's morning drive.

I just miss the days of live, local radio where hosts interact with listeners in real time.

they can still itneract with listeners and air it

No way in msot cases id put live callers on the air today

You know most of those morning show bits where they ask a question and you answer it to win a prize and they play 5-10 calls in a row in quick succession? thats not live... never was.

If that's what you want, all you have to do is switch the station to one where it's being done. Thousands of stations in this country with live local hosts.

I agree. There's no way Jenn is live on Now 93.3. At the same time her breaks air with Doug, she's often reading the news on Paul and Al's show - or otherwise interacting with them - on WHJY. I understand that Doug and Jenn have a million responsibilities at the cluster, but, as Jacko noted, many of us prefer live radio.

Even on a heritage station like WHJY, perhaps parts of Paul and Al's show is live. Maybe two hours of it. The other 22 hours of the day are voicetracked. At least it's done locally. But that station has always been as much about its personalities as it has about the music.

I usually do listen to live and local radio. My gripe is more with the show, and its parent company, in general.

Well, 101.5 does round up to 102! B102!
