Adulterous anchors taken off air

ABC is worried about "damage to the brand" from the affair between "Good Morning America 3" anchors, removes them from the show despite the relationship of consenting equals not violating company policy. Huh? Can ABC do that?

Obviously they can, because they did. Nobody lost their job. Perhaps they get reassigned somewhere else.

Are one or both married, and this is an extramarital affair? If so, ABC probably doesn't want to get in the middle of divorce proceedings. The affronted spouse(s) could sue the pants off of them.

They both have spouses, although it sounds like their marriages are over in every sense but the legal one.

Probably too late for that.

Although I'd love to see a jilted spouse sue an employer for ... uh, sending two of their employees on a business trip to London, I guess? Would be a truly amusing show of courtroom stupidity.

ABC's being owned by Disney may have played a role in this, considering the Disney company's "family friendly" image.

If this had happened at CBS or NBC, or one of the cable news channels, Holmes and Robach might not have been yanked, unless one or both had committed criminal offenses.

Yes, this is against morals, but this is also not a crime.

The same family friendly image they’re so concerned about that the show that immediately follows GMA3 is…checks notes…the well-known poster child for chastity and clean living, General Hospital?
Ah, the days of ABC's lineup of soaps which contained domestic abuse, killing, adultery, arson, fighting, and numerous other infractions. And what was the branding for this line of soaps? "Love in the Afternoon."

the two reasons why this is a big scandal is:

1. The #MeToo Movement, many news reporters have lost their jobs for sexual misconduct, doesn't matter if both are consenting to a relationship in this place, people don't like it.

2. Disney's family friendly image as a company.

"#MeToo" certainly wasn't about consensual relationships. If someone is conflating non-consensual with consensual, please correct them.

When people watch ABC programming, are they thinking Mickey Mouse and everything appropriate for children? Disney no doubt has procedures in their HR department to cover employees dating, the difference being the couple hosting a show while being "married but not to each other". If I remember right, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzeski of MSNBC have a similar story, though married now.

2. Disney's family friendly image as a company.
Disney as a company and ABC as a network have myriad content with all manner of s-e-x…insert gasps here. No, Minnie and Daisy don’t have fling on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but the company isn’t exactly opposed to portraying people who aren’t married to each other getting it on.

After they STOLE the motto from NBC...

They were still mentioned as the hosts on the opening until just recently. Today I noticed they don't mention any hosts' names now.
