TV stations licensed to one state and transmitting from another state

WEAR - COL/studios in Pensacola FL; transmitter in Baldwin County AL.

All the Providence RI stations transmit from Rehoboth MA, including WLNE, which is licensed to New Bedford MA but has its studio in Providence. The Yuma AZ stations use a site in California.

I think there are also examples to be found in markets such as Sioux City IA, Bristol/Kingsport, Columbus GA, the Quad Cities, Shreveport/Texarkana and along the TX/OK line.

WXOW La Crosse WI is located (studio and transmitter) in La Crescent MN. The old WHAG-TV had studios in Hagerstown MD but I think the transmitter was in PA (or was that WJAL?)

There are plenty of other examples of COL in one state, studio/transmitter in another and other such weirdness, especially in markets such as Portland OR, Philadelphia and Washington.

KHQA, licensed to Hannibal, MO, studios in Quincy, IL. (They at one time had a "main studio" in Hannibal for legal requirements that were in effect at the time, but "real" studios in Quincy.

WNET's COL is in Newark, NJ but transmits in New York at One World Trade Center.
WWOR-TV COL is in Secaucus, NJ but transmits in New York from One World Trade Center
WHYY-TV COL is in Wilmington, Delaware transmitter is in Philadelphia.

WGBP/channel 66 is licensed to Opelika AL and has two transmitters in Georgia, one in Cusetta (serving the Columbus DMA) and another in Warm Springs (serving the south parts of the Atlanta DMA).

WTVY/channel 4 in Dothan AL has its transmitter in Bethlehem FL. This is so viewers in the northern areas of Panama City FL who cannot get CBS from WECP-LD/channel 21 can get it from WTVY.

WCTV/channel 6 is licensed to Thomasville GA as its transmitter is near Metcalf, but their studios are in Tallahassee.

All of the Louisville stations transmit from Indiana (Floyds Knobs) and have studio facilities in Louisville.

WHAG (now WDVM) their tower is on Fairview Mountain (in Maryland) but they have a construction permit to move to Raven Rocks, WV to get their signal closer to Washington DC

LaCrosse stations that have their transmitter near LaCrescent, MN include WXOW (ABC), WLAX (Fox) and WHLA (PBS). WEAU (NBC Eau Claire) has a translator on those towers

WPTZ-5 is licensed to Plattsburgh, New York (serving the combined Plattsburgh, New York/Burlington, Vermont market), but both it's studios and transmitter are in Vermont (studios in South Burlington, transmitter atop Mount Mansfield in Stowe).

And in its early years, WTEV/WLNE-6 had it's studios in New Bedford, Massachusetts (city of license) and transmitter in Tiverton, Rhode Island.

Here are two more TV stations that have cities of license in New Jersey and have transmitters in New York City.

WJLP Middletown Township transmits from 4 Times Square.
WMBC-TV Newton transmits from One World Trade Center.

Because of the spectrum reallocation, WMYT licensed to Rock Hill SC is a subchannel of WJZY which has its transmitter in NC,

Same for WMYA Anderson SC which is a subchannel of WLOS Asheville NC.

WYCW licensed to Asheville NC is a subchannel of WSPA-TV Spartanburg SC.

Well Washington DC really isn't a state so that doesn't really count as I'm sure you can probably get all the DC stations with a decent antenna from places like Hagerstown, MD & even Roanoke, VA ( NOTE - When I say "Decent", I mean ROOFTOP OR TOWER like the the ones that Jasob the Antenna Man in PA recommends)

A quick llok on Wikipedia receaks this about trhe KC stations

KSMO 62 - STUDIOS - In Fairway, KS (Shared with parent KCTV 5) TRANSMITTER - In Independence, MO (KCTV\s transmitter is in the Union Hill section of KC, MO)
