This one hurt!

I was out around Opryland Hotel this morning and noticed that the WSM building was gone! I was shocked! When did this happen?

I thought the studios were inside the hotel now......
Yes for long time.Think they moved to the hotel around 1995 or so. BUT for years that building had sales, promotion, news, production departments in it. Both am and fm broadcast from it at one time. OH and so did WWTN at one point.

The building was damaged in the 2010 Nashville floods (along with everything else at Opryland), and I think it was demolished in 2011.

The building at 2644 McGavock Pike (the address Scott cites at his link) was still standing in an aerial photo in October 2021.

The building I reported being demolished in 2011 was on the south end of the Opryland Hotel, and formerly housed TNN/CMT at 2806 Opryland Dr.

And yes, I relied in part on Wikipedia, which Scott says is incorrect... so I've probably made a factual error in my first post in this thread.

I'm shattered and disillusioned... whaaaaaaatttt, Wikipedia incorrect? I think I'll go pour myself a tall one and cry.

It was there earlier this year. Devon O'Day did a FaceBook Live from the parking lot back in the summer. They had demolished it that day and were cleaning up the mess. It was a pretty big deal (at least for her WSM following).

Thankfully the station is still on.

Here is a copy/paste of her post. Trying to include the link from FB as well.

Devon O'Day was live.

Goodbye to a legend…office and studios, and tower at Opryland…gone by Friday
Clarification….the signal remains. WSM is NOT going away. Just the little historic building and the tower beside it. The original tower and site in Brentwood are on the National Historic registry and remain. This post is about the memories attached to this little building and the tower associated with it at the entrance to Opryland.
