How do I edit a post that I made a week ago?

I would like to edit an original post that I made a week ago to make it easier to read. Can this be done?
No.

There is a brief edit period during which changes can be made. After that, any changes might impact responses to the original post.

You can always go back and clarify a post by saying something like, "I realized my original post was not easy to read so here is my thought in a better form..."

FWIW I personally appreciate the way @frankberry has it set up here. I sometimes post on another message board which locks down your posts and won't let you edit anything after 1 minute. IMO that's entirely too rigid as once you post a comment, even if you read it immediately and wish to quickly edit to clarify something or add context, it's too late. Likewise, I've seen other forums that allowed limitless editing and in that case I've seen people come in and made snide comments or cause a s#!t storm, then later edit or remove their comments to make it appear that they said something completely different than they had, or that they were an innocent bystander the entire time and were attacked which is also not OK.

IMO Radio Discussions strikes a good balance. If you edit a post you've made after a certain time period, it creates a note in the bottom corner noting when you last edited your post vs. the time/date you initially posted it. After an hour your comment is locked and you can no longer edit, which is fine IMO. The only "rule" I've sometimes taken exception to is that discussion threads are locked down after a year. While I understand the reason for it, as a few particular folks would sometimes revisit threads that were several years old and restart them with fresh comments as if those much older threads were still relevant, there have been other times that I've found new information about a thread that had been automatically closed due to inactivity. In that case I usually start a new thread and in my initial comment, I provide a link to the older, now closed one for reference. I've also seen Frank comment that, if users of this board wished to have an older thread unlocked so they could continue that discussion, we could contact him and he'd consider unlocking older content on a 'by case" basis, which is fair.
