KCRA was doing 90 minutes of news from 6:30-8:00pm back then? I don't recall that.
 
I think there was a lot of experimenting going on in the early to mid 70’s. A lot of it just didn’t click. I remember KING TV in Seattle tried a “living room” format where the anchors just sat in comfy chairs with no desk. Then they went to newsroom format that was not from their actual newsroom, but the basement of their building. Both failed and it went back to a traditional desk and has for the past 40-plus years.
