San Diego Radio Ratings - December 2022

Covering the survey period from Thu. 11/10/2022 thru Wed. 12/7/2022,
age 6+ overall: RadioInsight San Diego Ratings - July-Dec. 2022

KyXy + Sunny Warm up while Magic 92.5 + BigFM cool down.
KPBS up while KOGO slips. Rock 105.3 drops while 101.5 KGB dips.

Channel 933 from Aug-Dec trends 4.8-3.7-3.5-3.2-2.8 => not what they'd want :(
- while Z90 holds fairly steady over the same stretch bouncing between 3.0-3.7 (its current high-water mark).

Both Alternative music stations at 1.6 - lowest for both over 6 months. Ouch!

97~3 The Fan (post-Padres) descends to the neighboorhood where its competition usually resides: 1.2 vs 0.8 for SD Sports 760 (KGB-AM).
Boost in signal from 1360 to 760 not doing much for the Fox Sports affiliate.

Interesting that 100.7 Big FM had a surge earlier this year (even reaching #1 in 6+), which myself and a few others credited to a wider playlist than Sunny 98.1 -- but now Big is behind Sunny in 6+. Do bigger playlists only give you a short-term boost?

If 760 could get Padres baseball right along with 97.3, that might improve things a bit, now that the Pads are a major contender in MLB. Everyone would be able to hear the broadcasts in the market and beyond...

That won’t happen since 760 is owned by I Heart while Audacy owns the rights to Padres baseball on 97.3 FM. Audacy doesn’t own an AM station in the San Diego area. The only way Audacy could improve coverage is if they moved the sports programming to the far superior signal of KYXY 96.5 FM and that is never going to happen. It’s too bad I Heart doesn’t own the rights to Padres baseball because they could have put the Padres on the superior am signals of AM 600 KOGO or AM 760 along with an FM signal of 94.1 FM or the struggling 93.3. But, alas, we are stuck with Audacy and the Padres being on 97.3 FM, which has serious signal issues here in the North County of San Diego.
