New Year means time to rescan your antenna...

This morning, my OTA scan revealed 66 channels up from 63 from my home in Northern Middlesex County.

The new signal is transmitting on channel 27 and displays on screen as channel 27 with the call sign WWAXHD
Rabbit Ears TV shows the call sign as WWAX-LD and licensed to Westmoreland NH, which would be incredible DX if it also didn't show the transmitter site as located on Avon Mountain. Wikipedia also shows the same COL. The FCC TVQ is just plain dead as always with "website error", so I couldn't get better details.

Currently, they might be still getting things settled as they are showing different programming than they have listed:

27.1 WWAXHD (Currently WFSB 3.1)
27.2 Charge! (Currently the defunct WFSB 3.5 Early Warning Pinpoint Doppler)
27.3 EWNNOW (the former WFSB 3.6 Eyewitness News Now)

I will go as far as assuming that the station's COL has not been transferred to Hartford (or some other nearby town) yet. I was able to at least get info from Rabbit ears TV showing ownership is Grey TV, and the actual city of license is Hartford CRT as of 12/27/22 (27? Ha! that's funny)

I don't see many doing bandscans these days, but with the start of the new year, there's usually some activity with new channels appearing and maybe these types of posts can be limited to a yearly event so there's not an overwhelming number of posts during the year (as if, this area seems a little dead lately)

So I think I will do a folow up with my bandscan results. in the reply to this one...

Here's my current bandscan of the over the air digital reception I get in Northen Middlesex County with a leaf type amplified antenna in a window which faces north with an offset to the west by a few degrees (normal direction of the house).

(who cares you say? I don't know, maybe someone, but it would be nice to have this list written down somewhere for my own use)

In order for this to be quick enough for me NOT to spend the whole day doing this, I will go with just the virtual channel numbers, and the channel info or city of license

BTW: this is an ATSC 1.0 bandscan, I have yet to go ATSC 3.0

This took way too long, I had trouble trying to get the correct info on 32.1 which is listed as Asteca TV just aboueverywhere but is not. They have Timeless TV which is mostly infomercials, and I coudn't remember the channel name off hand because it seems every time I pass the channel, it's an infomercial and waiing for the ID takes too long. I'm not sure if this is a permanet change or not and I also list Comet with this notation because when a few channels were shuffled no too long ago (get moving from 32 to 61, Grit moving from 59 to 26, TDB deleted from 61, Stadium deleted from 20), Comet being on 2 same market channels seemed to be a given that something else was going to take it's place on 20.

Personally, I prefer Comet on 20 as during the summer months, I tend to lose WTNH & WGGB signals and wuould have to resort to comet on roku, stirr or i's own live stream. WGBY is also a bit spotty at times during the summer months.

It should have been "...on your antenna" just like the line about comet at the end should have been "... on roku, stirr or it's own live stream." I'm sure, like most, I had a very late night and wrote this half asleep.

I live in The Wallingford/North Haven area and I bought what I thought was a good antenna, and all I got was WTNH 8.1, Rewind 8.2 and Quest 20.4

Great to see someone on the same wavelength as far as antenna TV goes. I, too, just added 27 1-3, with 27-1 being the WWAX-HD version of 3-4 and 3-4 now being WWAX-LD instead of the LD version of 3-1. Here's my listing (now 63 channels in the W. Holyoke, Mass. area). I use a Yagi for the CT stations and get all with transmitters on the Metacomet Ridge. Since their all in a line, I'm fortunate to be in a location that doesn't require the antenna to be rotated. The Mass. channels on Mt. Tom hit the back side of the antenna, but no problem, as I am very close to that mountain. I also use an 8-bay with half of it aiming southeast to pick up a Mass. LD CBS/Cozi station in Wilbraham. Will be looking for the program guide for WWAX, as it seems to be different from Ch. 3. My listing has program guides and transmitter tower locations. Also has links and guides to free cable channels (see the notes on VPN) and other networks with hundreds of channels (STIRR, PLUTO. XUMO and PEACOCK). Here's a photo of the antenna array. https://www.pioneertruth.org/tv/

I'm trying to write the link that ends in /tv with tv in lower case, but it keeps changing it to upper case, so the link won't work. It even changes it here in this reply. "tv" is supposed to be lower case

Link with the upper case "TV" should now work: https://www.pioneertruth.org/tv/

links are case sensitive after the .com/ slash, not before that. The TV folder, being after the slash has always been in lower case. The Comment software seems to auto-corrected it to upper case. Now problem now, though, I made a folder in upper case on the web server and either way works now.
