KTCK AM/FM has been promoting listening to the CFP game on their airwaves. Are they airing the ESPN Radio feed or are they simulcasting WBAP 820/TCU radio network feed?
If I’m 97.1 I’m going to pay 💰💰💰 for those rights next yearI guess Cumulus is trying to double dip. Most casual football fans probably don't know that Horned Frog football is on WBAP.
Why would iHeart do that?If I’m 97.1 I’m going to pay 💰💰💰 for those rights next year
I think Learfield and Cumulus have a good working relationship with TCU football and basketball and SMU football. If I’m 97.1 I’m going to pay 💰💰💰 for those rights next year
It’s only Sonny Dykes’ first year. A win is a win. Just playing for a national championship gives TCU great exposure for recruiting - even in one of America’s football hot beds in DFW and and nearby Louisiana. TCU has set them up for success for years to come. TCU will command more ad dollars in DFW than Texas/Texas A&MWhy would iHeart do that?
TCU has about 90k living alumns spread around the world. Not all live in the DFW area, not all are CFB fans, and not all listen to the games over the radio. The listening base is extremely small and most non-alumn fans are bandwagon fans who won't commit the time or effort to TCU unless there is an ongoing Cinderella season (like there was this season). There's a reason why TCU has some of the lowest national TV ratings in the Big12 most seasons (and with Texas/Oklahoma on the way out of the conference, those ratings may drop even further).
As a CFB fan, I can tell you this season was an anomaly and TCU won't have another special season next fall. They had too many close calls this season and their best win came against a Michigan team who had a coach that was too busy looking for an NFL job. The excitement around the school is going to die very quick after this 65-7 massacre. Replicating this season again will be next to impossible.
And on the other hand GA just showed TCU how far they have to go.It’s only Sonny Dykes’ first year. A win is a win. Just playing for a national championship gives TCU great exposure for recruiting - even in one of America’s football hot beds in DFW and and nearby Louisiana. TCU has set them up for success for years to come. TCU will command more ad dollars in DFW than Texas/Texas A&M
That was heartbreaking, but I'm still very proud of them. And on the other hand GA just showed TCU how far they have to go.
TCU has been one of the best teams in Texas for the past 15 seasons and recruiting has largely remained unchanged. I highly doubt a CFP appearance will change that (especially since the score was 65-7).It’s only Sonny Dykes’ first year. A win is a win. Just playing for a national championship gives TCU great exposure for recruiting - even in one of America’s football hot beds in DFW and and nearby Louisiana.
Realistically speaking, Dykes caught lightning in a bottle because he inherited good talent. Gary Patterson ran a very disciplined program that placed a great emphasis on defense. For over a decade, TCU has had some of the most consistent defenses in the Big12 despite the fact that the conference was known to air it out and amass ridiculous offensive stats.TCU has set them up for success for years to come.
There's just no way this happens. For starters, TV is the driving force behind CFB. And it is looking more and more likely that the SEC and BigTen will eventually branch off and create their own super league. Small schools with limited fambases (like TCU and Baylor) don't perform very well in ratings during the regular season. Especially when they're having an average year.TCU will command more ad dollars in DFW than Texas/Texas A&M
Well the first minute and a half were good. That was heartbreaking, but I'm still very proud of them.
if anything, i could see KEGL only go for rights for sports that are already only on FM like Cowboys or Rangers or local rights to nationally broadcasted events.I don't think TCU would want to move off of WBAP to KEGL. WBAP has a far greater reach than KEGL.
I doubt there's much more money to be had and KEGL wouldn't offer it anyway.
The Texas Motor Speedway deal may work but the Rangers and Cowboys are not going to play second fiddle to the Mavericks. I’m sure the Mavericks have priority over any other teams. That’s why they are on KEGL in the first place.if anything, i could see KEGL only go for rights for sports that are already only on FM like Cowboys or Rangers or local rights to nationally broadcasted events.
hell, i think they could try to bring NASCAR radio broadcast back to a major station in the market that covers all of the market and be the official station of Texas Motor Speedway like 105.3 was in the final years of "Live 105.3" and start of "105.3 The Fan"
