December 2022 Trends 12+

Kudos to WLOU, a translator, for tieing WQMF for 7th place! WLOU also beat every sports radio station in Louisville COMBINED (I included WKJK)!

4 sports radio stations (I included WKJK) combined for a 3.3! WXVW doesn't subscribe so who knows how well they're doing.

WAKY is on a 3-month downtrend.

WSFR and WVEZ are up even though they gave up local morning shows.

Congrats WLOU! WAKY going more 80's and a lot of unfamiliar personalities is proving to be problematic. But then again, December is always a month that doesn't really count in most markets due to lifestyle changes and Christmas format changes.

The change in format at 107.7 probably hadn't had an effect when these numbers were published. The new morning show is terrible.

93.1 and 105.1 are both 0.7. Isn't there anything that would do better on these FM stations?
106.9 always goes up after their two month Christmas music marathon.
I would like to know the ratings for WGTK 970. They now have a translator at 93.5 but the signal is really weak.

Time to bring back 93.1 the Fox!

Louisville might not have been able to sustain 2 Classic Rock stations and an Active Rock station for 18 years, but hindsight says WTFX and the Rock format should have stayed on 100.5 awhile longer.

The classic hits on WAKY go into the 2000s now. That Train song "Drops of Jupiter" is apparently a classic hit now, as I've heard it on WAKY several times recently.

WAKY seems to play more soft rock songs now than in the past. Sounds like the old EZ-107 sometimes.
Today I heard Money by Pink Floyd followed by Hands to Heaven by Breathe 😅

IMHO Train Drops of Jupiter is an "Adult Hits" title and not classic hits. A lot of programmers are adjusting Classic Hits stations and getting out of the comfort zone of the P-1 listener. Some are having success, some are not. Again, only in my opinion, Classic Hits is only the staples and is ageless and timeless. Adjusting and removing older and replacing with newer is making the format sound more and more confusing. The songs and artists that have withstood the test of time like Supremes, Stones, Beatles, Elton, Spinners, Stevie Wonder, BTO, America, Chicago, etc... 80's MJ, Steve Winwood, Christopher Cross, Hall & Oates etc. Even though I like Richard Marx, Train, Breathe and others, they just don't sound right (to me) on Classic Hits.

Artists like Breathe and Richard Marx are definitely classic hit artists. Train not so much.
