WAEB FM Signal

I was in lower Sussex County, NJ the other day and I noticed that B104's signal comes in relatively well for being distant on radio-locator.

Helps to have topography block out any co-channel stations and the NYC and Philly adjacents far enough away to let those Allentown stations come in fairly well. A lot of the Hudson Valley stations beam due South into Sussex as well. Fairly unique market to see how physics really affect radio propagation.

The Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton market has five Class B stations:

104.1 WAEB-FM Allentown - Top 40 - iHeart

100.7 WLEV Allentown - AC - Cumulus

99.9 WODE Easton - Classic Rock - Cumulus

96.1 WCTO Easton - Country - Cumulus

95.1 WZZO Bethlehem - Rock - iHeart

Does MVB13 get all these stations well in Sussex County, NJ? I don't think they share the same towers, since they all had separate owners when they first signed on the air. But they all should have roughly the same coverage areas as Class B outlets.

I don't live in Sussex County. I live just outside NYC in NJ. I was visiting.

Oddly enough you can't get Scranton stations.

Driving through I-80 near the area MVB describes, Exit 28 is usually where the Lehigh valley stations start getting interference from NYC sidebands, Hudson Valley and some Connecticut stations. I was listening to 99.9 the Hawk and Star started interfering. Likewise going west, 100.3 and 101.1 start getting interference from Philly.

Back when the station was Oldies, a pal of mine from grammar school got WODE 99.9 well enough on the Upper East Side of Manhattan to consider them a regular-- and enjoyable -- listen.
