TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

“Dr. Phil” will stop giving advice after 21 seasons
HUGE shocker! This is one of the highest-ranked shows in syndication! Happy retirement and best wishes to Phil and Robin!

I expect more 4pm news and even 3pm news...some local lifestyle shows too.

there's rumors that Rachel Ray might soon follow according to Page Six. but I would see a 1pm or 2pm news or a local talk show perhaps. Michela might get a syndie deal soon or Drew Barrymore might return to an hour or the trash talkers like Karamo or Steve Wilkos get more visibility,

Barrymore is available as an hour. If CBS is going to try to maintain “Dr” Phil-of-it in syndication, dollars to donuts the CBS owned and operated stations keep him, denying a slot to another show.

Some CBS o&os dont carry Phil or Drew or even Inside Edition, they can move their syndies to their own station especially they're now offering 9am news in most markets.

ESPN has canceled the linear edition of its journalism-driven news program Outside the Lines.

While the weekly TV series is sunsetting, the Saturday morning news program will continue on as a digital series (including on ESPN’s YouTube channel), and with branded segments on ESPN’s flagship studio show SportsCenter seven days per week. Jeremy Schaap, the anchor of OTL since 2020, will continue to lead the segments.

Sports Business Journal‘s John Ourand first reported the news. No jobs are expected to be lost with the change.

Note Outside the Lines is canceled as a separate show within ESPN but it will merge in as a digital only series or a segment within SportsCenter.

This is huge for daytime TV, just like with Dr. Phil. The landscape is really changing! Congrats to Judge Greg Mathis and Judge Marilyn Milian on their retirements!
